Wouldn't mind him off of the bench. I know Youk isn't the youngest of players, but I still think we are yet to see the best of what he can do given that this year was his first full year. I would love to see Millar back in the clubhouse and only off of the bench or filling in for someone on a day off ... this team doesn't have enough fun anymore. Manny, Ortiz and Wily Mo all have their own connection going on but I don't see the life that the other teams had. Millar is a great fastball pitcher, and he would be great to stick in the lineup late in the game when we need a hit off of a hard throwing pitcher. I will, as well, admit to being one of the people that bashed Millar and called for his head, while simultaneously singing Youk's praises. My crow eating starts at those numbers, I suppose. Argh. The Sox won't know how much money the Yankees have put up, and the Yankees won't know how much the Sox have put up. There's NO competition in a sense. You put up the max amount that you're willing to pay to negotiate with Matsuzaka, and if it isn't the highest, then you don't. That's why they call it BLIND. It's not like the Yanks can see if the Sox put up 20 million to negotiate, then they put up 21 million. It doesn't work like that. Every team just sends in an amount, and whatever the highest is, that's it.
