  1. Jacko, I have a question for you. After the suffering you have gone through SO FAR this season (and could very well go through for the rest of this year and next year), what would you do if the Red Sox signed Johan Santana after the '08 season?
  2. Linky Friday: Wang vs. Wakefield Saturday: Mussina vs. Schilling Sunday: Pettitte vs. Beckett They're skipping Tavarez but he will pitch Monday against the A's. After the most recent outings, I think this is probably what they should do. With the Yankees the way they are, a sweep is obviously a huge possibility. Especially when taking into consideration how our pitching seems to have gotten back on track.
  3. Thuuuuh Yankees Loooose!!! Thuuuuh Yankees Loooose!!! Again 14.5 game lead over the Yanks with our tonight!! Seeing the Yanks lose never, ever, EVER gets old. So much for the Rocket. Yankees suck.
  4. Hahahahaha this team is on f***ing fire. Jacko and Gom are going to have LOTS of crow to eat.
  5. It's Jima time!!!! Can't wait for the Oki-Doki.
  6. Lopez has really gotten it done when we've needed him to. 2 huge outs last night and getting out of a bit of a jam tonight. Good job. Thumper, that ball took a bad hop. It was obvious. It hit a lip and was misdirected. Stop s***ing your pants.
  7. I can just see Sheffield frowning out of sadness when he hears of Dukes' problems...
  8. Okay, Manny got to DH last night. Fine, we won and in hindsight it doesn't look so bad. But GODDAMN IT TITO, PUT MANNY WHERE HE f***ING BELONGS. It's not like he does much in left field anyway. He listens to music in those weird sunglasses ear phones, takes pisses in the monster and waves to the fans. Unless playing in CF, Wily Mo in the OF is useless. Manny knows how to play the monster and gets the ball back into the infield 10x faster than Wily Mo does. I love Wily Mo, but he should be the DH. Manny's making $20 million more or less; he can play his damn position. Goddamn Tito.
  9. If we sweep, they're officially done. I hate to say it, but there's just no way they could come back from that. If they did, I would eat my own s***.
  10. Good f***ing God.
  11. YYYYYYYYeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh. :papelbon: Haha, Yankees suck.
  12. Yeah, no idea.
  13. Eh, it only continues if they pull out a win. The mojo is destroyed completely... Or we could just say ED gets tomorrow, win or lose.
  14. Bah. I forget his real last name despite my remembering our nickname for him. Who is Curtis "Let's Panic" ? Yeah, I'm an idiot and I can't remember his real last name. It would be cheating if I looked it up though...do I win anyway?
  15. Youk you son of a bitch! WHY DIDN'T YOU LET THE MOJO CONTINUE???? I kid. I guess if we win tonight EvilDonut can continue his streak tomorrow if he wants to. No big deal. The Sox are doing so well that they'll win anyway. However, if they lose, I CALL DIBS ON TOMORROW
  16. Except that you've totally gone off-track in your argument. We weren't comparing these two players. You were ready to make a bet that Trot Nixon will be just as valuable as Drew, and I called you on it. Now you're talking about Jones? WTF?
  17. Yeah, he threw a lot of pitches in the first. Walked the leadoff batter but was able to get out of the jam.
  18. No, the whole point was that Yanks fans release their anger on the players, regardless of team, because of the Yankees' sucky play. It has nothing to do with ripping on the Yankees because their down and out. And I think playing with the Yankees has more to do with being overpaid and having the best shot at a title rather than the fans.
  19. I'll take that easily. No way he hits 23 homers. $20 Trot gets hurt by July and misses the next two months. I know you could spin this with Drew, but you're trying to prove that Nixon could give us what Drew can. He can't. Drew's the better player. You need to let Drew get accustomed to a new league, a new coast, and a new team.
  20. If one more person makes a statement about chemistry I'm going to stab everyone within a 5-mile radius... KLJSBGASRJKGRAKBAJSDFBGLASEGFTAWRG. OK. Moving on. You have the benefit of hindsight. I love the guy, but it was Trot's time to go. He didn't do a good job protecting Manny in the 5 spot (high average with an "empty" bat...no power). We needed an upgrade, and Drew is an upgrade. He's coming into his own. You need to give players that switch leagues and coasts time to adjust. Drew looked great at the beginning of the season, and then crashed into the right field wall. Now, I know he's had injuries in the past, but that was a HARD crash. That would take anyone out. I don't think Drew was 100% better from that crash and I still don't think he is, but he had a great game yesterday and looked the best that he has since he was hitting ~.400 a month or so ago. Give it some time, and you'll be happy that we have Drew instead of Nixon. Yeah, the price is a bit ridiculous, but he's an upgrade. Besides, let's not worry about finances. You have to remember that we are the Boston Red Sox. We have financial muscles, so let's flex them. They'll let Curt walk after this season, giving us that $13 million to play around with. Clement's contract will be off our hands (right?) and we'll have more to play around with. Among other expiring contracts, the Sox will have enough money. As I said before, we've obviously overpaid for Drew, but the point is we have him now and he'll be better than Nixon was. When it comes down to it, we upgraded the team. Period.
  21. Because normally, opposing teams' players don't bash the other fanbase. And he's right. You guys can be absolutely venomous. It obviously doesn't ring true for every single fan, but let's remember that you guys were booing A-Rod last year when he hit .290 with 35 jacks and 121 RBIs on an OFF YEAR. His off year is a career year for 90% of the league. When most Yankee fans don't see what they like (because they've been spoiled with greatness for the past 14 years), they let everyone have it because they don't know what it's like to sit through a team that has a crappy season (or, they've forgotten...considering the Yankees haven't missed the playoffs since 1993). Whatever, this is a stupid debate to get into. But O-Cab's statements are supported by a majority of Yankees fans' behavior over the past couple of years.
  22. Eh, despite his suckiness in the leadoff position...when he gets on, he can snag a base. Getting the RBI and the steal every now and then, mixed in with the winning and his solid defense, are the things that are keeping me from absolutely losing my patience with him. I'm not happy with him, but I'm not about to rip him a new one...even though he's testing my patience. Wily Mo should have been playing today instead of Hinske. However, despite Cliff Lee pitching against us tomorrow I think we need to leave Drew in the lineup. You could always throw Wily Mo in there to face the lefty, but Drew had a nice game today and had 4 hard hit balls that he put into play. Let him continue to make contact and settle in. On days where Papi gets off, you need to put Wily Mo and his raw power in there to make up for the loss of power with Papi out of the lineup. Hinske in the lineup doesn't really help anyone. If there's someone I want to get at bats, it's Pena. Not Hinske.
