    Why the hell is Theo wasting his time on little guys like this? Because no real players want to come to Boston. This is what we've got to settle for. After Nomar, Varitek, Pedro, Lowe, Williamson leave....Gutierrez will probably be our starting shortstop next year. f***, Francona will probably try to build Millar's confidence by starting HIM at shortstop. Then give him a hug in the dugout every time he makes an error. I hate you Francona.

    I hate to say "I told you so," but I'm going to anyway. The Sox brought up Abe when he obviously wasn't ready, and that's a sign that this club is shamefully shallow (in talent). A sweep at the hands of the lowly Baltimore Orioles tells me we'll be lucky to finish second in the AL East without major changes. Yes, I realize we aren't swept YET...but its just a matter of time.

    I don't mean to keep being negative, but there's a HUGE difference between AA and the majors. The Yankees have brought up 3 different rookies who've gotten rocked this year (Halsey, Proctor, Graham)... So I don't buy the "nobody's ever seen him before" argument. I certainly hope Abe pitches and does well....I'm just not as confident as you guys.

    The less Millar plays period..... I'd rather see Kapler in left, Manny DHing, and Ortiz playing first....

    It just seemed like the article was implying something...maybe I read too much into it. Regardless, I hope Abe gets called up and does well today. We need it. Has there been an official announcement yet?

    I agree that Bellhorn has done FAR more than expected, and his contributions to the team shouldn't be taken lightly. He's played 3 different positions (has offered to play a fourth), has hit for decent power for a second baseman, played solid defense (not Pokey-esque, but decent) all while playing the game hard and not causing any trouble (which is more than you can say for MOST Red Sox this year). Bellhorn strikes out a lot, but he also has given the Red Sox more than they could have hoped for.

    No reports yet on who'll actually start this game. Does anyone have any official announcements? I know the Boston Globe said they were leaning towards Alvarez...but I haven't heard any announcements from the club. Also, who gets sent down if they call someone up?

    I'm not selling Abe short...it was more praise of Lopez than insults for Abe/Castillo. Lopez has flat-out dominated us this year (2-0, 0.84 ERA). Can we honestly expect Castillo or Alvarez to give up Don't get me wrong...I hope whoever starts pitches a complete game shutout....I just can't EXPECT it.

    For those who don't know what's going on (like me) here's the article: http://msn.foxsports.com/story/2595942 This is a sensative subject all around, especially in New York. They boo everyone (s***, they booed Jeter in April)... Delgado has the right to his opinion, and I respect him for standing up for himself. Mostly I hear him say anti-war statements (in the article) NOT anti-America statements.

    The game 1 starter is still unannounced despite the game starting in an hour and a half..... No matter who the Red Sox throw (be it Castillo or Alvarez) how can you say with confidence that pitcher has the edge over Lopez who's thrown well this year, is 2-0 with a 0.84 ERA vs the Red Sox this year, and the team is playing horribly! I give the game 1 edge to Baltimore, hands down.

    OK, so he isn't as playfull as Pedro or Manny, and he doesn't have the star power of Nomar,David Ortiz. But this guy's been playing so well lately, with the bat AND Glove... Get this guy in the lineup and keep him playing while he's hot (and now there's more reason than ever before to keep Millar the f*** out of the outfield).

    Well, Shopp will be 25 next year....he doesn't have a lot of time to prove he's ready for the bigs (since catchers pretty much start declining at 30).

    I just had a thought....with Ricky Gutierrez joining the team today, someone's gotta be sent down. I imagine it's Youkilis....Too bad, I like Youkilis.

    we may have been trailing, but last year's team knew how to win baseball games. last year's team looked like it cared about winning baseball games. this team doesn't care either way whether it wins or loses, as long as they collect fat checks.

    Zenny, That would be cool as it's always exciting to see rookies come up to Boston. Especially one with the promise to be a regular soon. Do you think Abe is ready?

    It looks like it'll be short lived, as Gutierrez joins the club tomorrow. With Youk up, I expect to see more of the Mueller at second senario just so people can get playing time. Thoughts?
