  1. Gamecast shows the ball/strike calling to be pretty rough - at least two pitches in the meat of zone were called balls. How does it seem to those of you watching the game? If it's true that the umpire is squeezing the pitchers, it makes their performances all the more remarkable. Edit: And the first pitch to Lugo is outside the zone and called a strike? Maybe the ump just sucks? (Or maybe Gamecast isn't representing the locations well.)
  2. I called it. Internally, you know, in my heart of hearts. You'll just have to take my word for it.
  3. The Papi bomb at least makes things look respectable.
  4. This isn't exactly a major discovery, but: Masterson: 6 IP, 1 R, 95 pitches Bullpen: 3 IP, 6 R, 94 pitches They really flushed his game down the crapper.
  5. Some pretty dang clutch pitching there from Okajima... seven batters too late though. Who pitches for us now that Okajima threw approximately 759 pitches that inning?
  6. So... how do we get our come-from-behind-to-win runs tonight?
  7. I'm sure the rest of the league is happy to see Paps throwing 100.
  8. Seems like these days, tough situation + Pedroia = automatic double. I love that little man so much.
  9. Gamecast is frozen with a 2-0 count on Mathews and Figgins on 1st. Anyone care to give me an update?
  10. You know, I was seriously thinking of Ellsbury as Ichiro today. Maybe that's a common thought, but it's one I'd never seen or read before. Speed? Check. Plus defense? Got it. Steal bases at will? Roger. Sprays the ball all the heck over the place? Yup.
  11. So, Ellsbury is doing his Ty Cobb impression? "Yeah, I could hit home runs, but that's so boring. What? You want me to hit a few this game? OK." At least I think that was Ty Cobb.
  12. I think Thurston has seen about 47 runners in scoring position this game.
  13. It wasn't pretty at the beginning, but 6 IP with no runs is OK with me no matter how it looks. I assume he's done. Let's see if the pen can hold the slim lead! Should be OK since Gagne's in Milwaukee, blowing Brewer leads instead of ours.
  14. Lowrie instead of Casey since Gabbard's a lefty, I assume. Not to beat a dead horse, but I'd rather see Lowrie instead of Lugo. Small sample size, I know, but in 12 AB Lowrie has done a lot more with the bat than Lugo in 66 AB. ESPN.com's player stats have Lowrie with a .417 BA and a .385 OBP. That seem odd to anyone else?
  15. Lugo in LF... and you thought he was exciting at SS! Speaking of which, why is Crisp not in the outfield? Is he beat up or something?
  16. That's good. I'm happy to have taken the lead, but I'd prefer to do it without the umpires hosing the Rangers' pitcher.
  17. Were the ball/strike calls as crappy as Gamecast made them out to be?
  18. Uh... Gamecast says ball 2 was right down the middle... ... and ball 3...
