  1. In other happier news, I'm right at the end of my second delicious tree-ripened West African mango. Ahhhh... Africa's not all bad.
  2. Gomes needs to get on in the bottom half for the inevitable late-inning Nava HR. ...uh, I mean, the inevitable late-inning DP because Nava sucks and has not hit a ball hard all year.
  3. Dempster's doing the Dice-K. Don't start pitching until there are guys on, preferably in scoring position. Tap dance in and out of trouble all day. The difference seems to be that Dempster isn't running up the pitch count as profligately as Dice-K. Plus he has better beard (at least in his GameCast pic; no idea what he actually looks like now).
  4. Ugh. Frustrating quick innings for the offense. Looked like Santana was going to be gone by 4-5 innings and now he's on cruise control heading for the 7th or so. But like someone said, just takes one good inning.
  5. They are, but that's not what the original source said. It said (paraphrasing), "It's unfair, but we ask whether or not Iggy would have gotten to a given ball." That's not unfair. But I understand your point.
  6. Could we get the Santana from innings one and two back?
  7. Sure, I agree with that. It would be unfair if we were all yelling, "Iggy would definitely have had that!", because, as you say, we don't know that. It's not unfair to ask the question.
  8. Not sure what's unfair about that. That's just the sort of thing that folks should be thinking about in order to determine whether Iggy should be playing.
  9. Maybe I could be like the twelfth person to say it. I blame my slow 3rd world internet connection.
  10. The streak is over. First Sox starter all year to give up 4+ runs. Sad face.
  11. I wish the rest of the AL East would just stop winning for a while. I mean, we're streaking here, all you other teams! Please be kind enough to lose around half of your games so we can bury you in the standings. Thank you in advance. --Beaneater
  12. I'd like to see about 10 innings of the KC bullpen today. That would be great.
  13. I forgot to mention one thing in the GT. Babyfaced Assassin strikes again!
  14. Let's get A-Rod for the ceremony too just to be sure. Plus anyone on the Yankees who is over 40 years old and inexplicably has multiple home runs this year.
  15. We've got good relief this year. Like, really good relief. We just need someone who can pitch the 9th as well as he can pitch the 7th. I'm just throwing crud out here because I don't really know as much about baseball as many of you, but is Morales a possibility when he gets back? I know he's got swing-and-miss stuff, but does he have what it takes to go get three tough outs in the ninth?
  16. Have we had any clean saves this year? You know, ones that don't make you reach for the Imodium? I think we had one against the Guardians... I mean, it's nice that we usually end up winning, so far, but you're right, iortiz, we need someone who can get it done pretty much every time, and painlessly most of the time.
  17. Maybe a nice shellacking tomorrow, please, Sox? You know, just to get the blood pressure down?
  18. To make the score 4-2. That can't be a coincidence.
  19. Recent days have shown pretty clearly that Bailey/Hanrahan is the best 8-9 combo in baseball. Hey, Bailey got the win yesterday! The win, do you hear me?
  20. And yet we've had a reliever give up 5 runs in less than an inning! Huzzah!
  21. Off-topic, but are the Braves going to lose again this year?
  22. Good stuff. We can criticize Doubie for throwing too many balls, walking guys, driving up his pitch count, and not going deep into the game. But (at the risk of jinxing things) we still haven't had a starter implode this year, and that's a good thing. Last year it definitely would have been the other team scoring more runs than they got hits. This year, it's us. I'll take it.
  23. Well, he's got plenty of the SO...
  24. I was thinking the same thing (except for the "terrible" part, because I don't know the first thing about the Cleveland bullpen). I don't know whether to hope they're just loafing up there (not a good show of character) or actually overmatched by these relief pitchers (not a good show of, uh, baseball).
  25. 15 BB and 22 SO in this game so far. Weird.
