Not to be picky or anything, but I believe it was Schilling vs Franklin. Still a pretty big mismatch. I think the announcers said it was the first time that a pitcher 10 games over .500 faced a pitcher 10 games under .500 since we faced Tanyon Sturtze, when he was on the Devil Rays a couple years ago.
Most newspapers usually offer their articles online for free. I for one sometimes go on New York newspaper sites just to see what they're talking about.
Did anyone see the Rangers-A's game last night. Rangers reliever Frankie Francisco hurled a chair into the stands and broke a woman's nose. He has got to be suspended for at least the rest of the year. I read somewhere that someone thought he should be suspended for all of next year. Oakland's fans have got to be the 2nd worst fans in baseball right now. But how long do you think he should be suspended for?
Curt had a great world series in 2001, going 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA, I believe he pitched very well in one of the games that BK blew. So I don't think he's scared. It's weird that he won't pitch in Yankee Stadium at all during the regular season.
I think the shoulder stiffened up a little and Tito sat him for precautionary reasons. He hit a good bullet but it was right at the 3rd baseman. I expect to see him in the lineup on Tuesday.
Red Sox could have their "dream infield" today for the first time, with gold glovers Mientkiewicz, Pokey and Cabrera, with the always stellar Bill Mueller at 3rd. Mientkiewicz might be sidelined by the flu though.
Its still top 5 in the AL in hitting. Plus Vazquez and Loaiza don't give up 22 runs every time they go out. You know sometimes they have off days and only give up 13.
