  1. as good as maggette is, he wouldn't fit here. he would want to be a starter, not a 6th man behind two very good wing players in pierce and allen. his minutes wouldn't be what he wanted sure, he said he's already made his money, and now wants to win. the teams with money are filled up at the wing positions, which pretty much reduces him to a MLE player. i've said this from the very beginning. the celtics only NEED is to lock up james posey with out MLE. james posey is just as important as anyone else on this team, and he needs to be back. the hold up right now with him i think is that he wants four years, and ainge doesn't want to commit four to him. the celtics need to lock up posey with the MLE, i believe we even have bird rights, get a veteran point guard (tyronn lue please) with the LLE, and a big with the veterans minimum
  2. No doubt Kobe had the same load as him, especially in 05-06, but I think it's shown on the court, and Kobe can be seen clearly spending his effort on BOTH ends for the WHOLE game throughout his career. He got a bad rap from the Finals IMO, because Phil knew he'd need the 40 PPG Kobe if he wanted a sniff of winning, so he put him on Rondo and had him act as a free lance. Obviously didn't work out well enough.
  3. LeBron is clueless IMO in man defense, but when his motor is on (usually at the end of games and in the fourth quarter), he's one of the top 5 help defenders in the NBA. His athleticism is unparalleled, and with that and his size, he's flying all over the place, getting hands in lanes, blocking shots, stealing balls. This may not be his problem though, give him another star and some other quality players and he won't have to work as hard on the offensive end on every posession so he won't need to coast on defense, and I think you have an All-NBA Defender.
  4. To be fair about the Kobe vs. LeBron debate: LeBron can't stop Kobe 1 on 1
  5. Kobe vs. LeBron 1 on 1: In 10 games Kobe wins 5 times LeBron wins the other 5 times. They both take things off the table that the other has, and bring things to the tables that the other doesn't. Kobe would have a hard time defending LeBron's strength driving to the hoop. LeBron's not good enough of a defender to guard Kobe on the perimeter and still stop his dribble drives. LeBron's size and athleticism would alter a lot of Kobe's shots. LeBron's jump shot is a liability, not a strength. You could go on and on with these comparisons of a 1 on 1 game with Kobe and LeBron, but they're the 2 best players in the NBA today, and as I said, they'd probably split 10 games 5 and 5 if they played.
  6. so what if see red predicuted wrong??? everyoene predicts werong..........
  7. i would have never known... THANKS BOSOX34!
  8. soooo tonight the celtics get one of three cracks at this thing... over under on the amount of days its been since kevin garnett has slept, i'm setting it at 12 i'll take the over too
  9. Kobe dished out his fair share during the game to be honest. And how about the Doctor out coaching Phil?!?!?
  10. I want to burn his eyebrows off. Tough loss, one we could have had. I hope Laker fans stop complaining now (+12 FT advantage), even though the officiating wasn't bad tonight, it wasn't that good either.
  11. I love the Celtics chances to win tonight - I think they'll show up to play. That being said, the referees assigned to the game are Joey Crawford and Bennett Salvatore, which spells trouble. I say the Celtics out play the Lakers, but lose because of a fat free throw disparity. I f***ing hate that the refs have such an impact on all of the games, straight up ********. It's the finals, let the play.
  12. No one is saying the jolt didn't benefit the team, because it obviously did. We're trying to say it wasn't Pierce "faking" or "playing out" an injury whatsoever.
  13. As someone who's torn their meniscus and ACL before, I can safely say that when you hear that "pop" that was described, you think the worst. When I tore my ACL it was sore and swollen and really painful for a few days until the swelling went down. I was able to walk on it for a month until my surgery. They were trying to be cautious, to take him back and examine it, and to not let him move it until they examined it.
  14. I believe Pierce didn't play it out at all. He definitely hurt his knee to some extent, so to say he faked is ridiculous. I think the training staff were the ones who made him get carried out and put in a wheel chair. After watching Pierce for the last 10 years, he plays with all sorts of bumps and bruises, so to say he was faking is ridiculous. Cautious is more like it. Think about it logically... do you really think Pierce would knowingly hurt his team to come out of the game for a little more than 5 minutes, just to get a small gain on his own personal legacy? Absolutely not. People from LA need to shut the f*** up and stop making up nonsense. They're just mad because he was torching them, then came back in, then s*** on their faces. From Chris Sheridan, ESPN
  15. my dad knows the right people... hes going out to LA for a game or two too i've already been to like 7 games so far in the playoffs too.
  16. im going to 2 and hopefuly 6 and 7 if it gets that far
  17. i can see why the writers would choose LA but they don't realize the celtics are finally winning on the road they don't realize we are the best team they've had to play yet they don't realize that the lakers have yet to face a team with as many weapons as the celtics they don't realize we f***ing slaughtered them twice this year, and they're minus bynum plus gasol at this point, so they're not too much better -i'm calling garnett going bananas, odom is a goon, and that is a mismatch and a half and i'm looking for garnett to exploit it. -bryant may not be at his best because of how tired he will be. between guarding pierce AND ray, he's going to have his hands full and won't be able to take a posession off -gasol is not a hall of fame player, he's a very good player. the writers are all over his nuts right now. -fisher and farmar can't really hold a flame to rondo right now, rondo is way too quick for both of them, so i'm looking for him to exploit that mismatch -gasol is soft as hell and perk and KG are hard as f***, so i expect us to outrebound them as well people love the lakers right now because of the kobe appeal. they're the sexy pick. then again, so were the pistons. i don't know how, but i hope the celtics get it done. regardless this is gonna be a hell of a series.
  18. IF Kobe wins this. He's no doubt top 3 all-time. If he gets a 5th, I put him ahead of Jordan.
  19. The rest of this series is going to be interesting as hell to say the least.
  20. holy f*** still can't believe pj brown hit that shot in game 7
  21. Doc showed some balls yesterday. I loved that. He did just enough yesterday to pull that one out. I couldn't believe House and Brown were in down the stretch, they were huge. And yes, I second whoever it was that the loudest sporting event they've ever been to. It was SO f***ING LOUD all game long.
  22. biggest game in a really long time today going to make or break (even though i think it is already broken beyond repair anyways) doc's coaching career and legacy with the celtics. will he be the guy who makes the right adjustments in the biggest of games (probly not), or will he be the guy who couldnt coach a team with 3 superstars past the semis (most likely). if we win, it will be the home court bailing us out again. doc will be wise to keep house backing up rondo instead of cassell. house played great, cassell has been a joke. you bet your ass i'll be coming back from the game with no voice today
  23. not feeling good about this 7th game... lebrons in a rhythm we're down gotta crank it up one more time just to survive this series.
  24. The way I see Cassell right now - in games that are blow outs, he shows up, in games that are close, he hides under a rock and shits the bed. Tonight is a huge game, I'd feel uncomfortable about a game 7 in Boston. We're either gonna win tonight or lose the series, IMO.
  25. lebron can't play against team defenses when you throw 2-3 guys at him off pick and rolls he panics and either fades away or tries to dribble around in to get to the rim and make a ridiculous pass he's clearly flustered right now, and i absolutely love it talk about an underrated acquisition in posey
