  1. That's not true either, you think pitchers are going to pitch around the 9 guy? Johny Damon is protecting him, so I think Bellhorn's getting his pitches.
  2. Facts are, Giambi is on a hot streak, even bad players can get hot. Does Mark Bellhorn's 3 HR's in 3 games mean anything to you? That MUST have been steriods, because he was striking out as much as Giambi was. Giambi is no longer missing mistake pitches, when pitchers throw pitches down the middle, at 90 mph Giambi's crushing it. It's not like he's hitting 100 mph fastballs out, he's hitting all the mistake pitches. He plays in Yankee stadium as well, so many of his HR's, are popups in Fenway. Last of all, Giambi has always had a very good eye, he's been taking pitches that are close, and not swinging at bad pitches. s***, even you could hit the pitch you want, and Giambi seems to be doing this every time up.
  3. Lamar = Dumbass I can't believe he balked on getting those 4 prospects.
  4. Yup, and we'd probably take them both back if we could.
  5. He went 7 IP's, allowed only 3 hits, and fanned 7. His ERA is now .98 in 4 starts at AA. http://minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&did=milb&t=g_box&gid=2005_08_02_nbraax_prtaax_1
  6. Guardians better f***ing hope that Wickman can go 1-2-3 in the 9th.
  7. Kendall's even worse (72 out of 89) or a 19% CS rate.
  8. I agree. BTW, what other A's pitching prospects are on the way up?
  9. Could this be the end for Al Leiter? Then again they have no other options.
  10. http://www.thebaseballpage.com/past/pp/weaverearl/ He seems like the A's, except he won one WS title. Not great considering his overall sucess. I don't think that people who don't play the game are idiots, Epstein has never played, yet he is one of the top 5 GM's in baseball. I still say that pitching and defense wins championships. It looks as if Mr. Weaver agrees with you in one way, and me in one way. Just look at the Orioles pitching staff's ERA in that series, and then look at the Reds.
  11. It seems as if the A's always win ROY. Crosby, Grieve, Weiss, McGwire, and Canseco, and two of their farmhands (Hinskie, and Berroa) won it as well.
  12. The Reds, Royals, and Devil Rays probably have numbers 30, 29, and 28 in terms of ranking general managers. Lamar has to be the worse GM in the history of baseball, they get Sanchez (quality arm) Shoppach (starting catcher), Petit (another good arm), and Milledge (top prospect) and he wants more? I agree though that Zito, Blanton, Haren, Harden, and Meyer is a dominant young staff, and the A's bullpen is pretty damn deep too. (That may be the reason they advance in the postseason, winning 2-0 games). As for the A's not caring about starting pitching, I don't think Billy Beane would have a job if he felt that way.
  13. Big problem though, there was ZERO policy on steriods, so even if he did inject himself 15,000 times a day, you couldn't do a damn thing about it. It wasn't illegal then, even if was cheating, I blame MLB for not setting a policy on it. Canseco couldn't out Giambi, he never played with him.
  14. I do however think Billy Beane is a terrific GM though. No other GM, would have had the balls to trade 2 aces.
  15. You're correct, the only players I see being regulars are Pedoria, Shoppach (elsewhere), Ellsbury (to early to tell), and Youkilis. Which ones did you think?
  16. Moneyball still doesn't work though, it is all about pitching. (HE, don't get into another arguement, because I don't feel like getting owned tonight)
  17. I'm guessing if Soto reaches his max potential, (highly unlikely) but he could hit 25+, he has the best natural swing in the system. Lowrie could hit 15-20 HR's, key word is could.
  18. He needs to fix his swing, it's UGLY. Has anyone else noticed it? It's an uppercut kind of swing, which results in strikeouts and popups. People who have a lot of power will turn those popups into to high fly homeruns, but Bellhorn, is Bellhorn.
  19. Flip Egan at 1st, then put Lowrie at DH.
  20. Tyler Clippard is in A ball right now, while he is a prospect, he isn't a great one. He lives on locating his fastball, which is in the 90-92 mph range, while it's a good pitch it's not a great one. His secondary stuff is just OK, Clippard could be a servicable back of the rotation starter, he isn't close to ace potential Jon Poterson has some good power potential, but lacks plate discipline. Right now he's Mark Bellhorn, he needs to get more power, or become more disciplined, when he does that I will say he is a good prospect. You won't believe, you'll call me biased, but J.Brent Cox, could be very good, (I love his slider) but his mechanics just put up a big mother f***ing red flag. He needs to fix those, or he is just an injury prone pitcher. Carl Henry isn't near as polished as the Sox draft picks, which is why I ranked them ahead of Henry.
  21. OK, I'll listen to BJ (ha, BJ!) tommorow since I work till 5. I usually listen to the Big Show on WEEI, but I'll try it out.
  22. The role isn't different, but the competition is much harder. I don't expect Papelbon to close this year, though he probably could, Schilling will remain the man. I mean could you really see Jon Papelbon, who's thrown 5.1 innings in his career, to close in the postseason? I think a schziophrenic on crack would be much more reliable.
  23. Do they talk mostly Northwest sports?
