  2. 3-0! Millar homers with Manny Ortez on!
  3. http://frogkreshar.blogspot.com/ You think it's possible?
  4. The Yankees will lose at least 1 of the games in the twinbill. Loaiza is pitching game 2. I guarantee it!
  5. There will be thousands of police officers, but will it be enough? Boston would be a scary place.
  6. I'm still a Metsie for life, and I would take a Mets-vs.-anybody World Series over anything. But before I die, I want to see the Red Sox and Cubs in a Series together. And yes, us Sox and Mets fans can unite against the MFY.
  7. As a Mets fan with no hope left for my team (even as the Wild Card is slightly more visible as each day goes on), I have been quietly keeping track of the Sox. Currently 1 game up on the Rangers and Angels in the Wild Card, I think we will see the Sox in the postseason again this year. However, I am beginning to question a team that, going into this year, were my favorites to win the AL East (even with the Skankees acquiring A-Rod). The Red Sox finished 95-67 last year. To reach that mark this year, they need to be 32-16 the rest of the way. I thought this team was leaps and bounds better than last year. They aren't performing that way. I am nervous about how far they can go in the postseason The defense frightens me (and remember that the Mets are the worst defense in the league). In the postseason, where every play is HUGE, sloppy defense won't win ballgames, and every bad move is magnified. Somebody breaks late for a fly ball, and everyone notices. One bad throw, one misplay, and one blunder can cause you a game. You upgraded the shortstop position by getting Cabrera, so hopefully he can help. With Lowe struggling (among others), how deep can you say your rotation is? Pedro is still an excellent, top-tier pitcher, but is he what he was, say, a few years ago, where he was being compared to Sandy Koufax? Lowe has struggle. Francona is more likely that Little to leave in a pitcher a little too long. The bullpen is questionable. I am impressed with Leskanic (at least from what I have seen of him, I think he performed admirably on that thrilling July 1st game), but in the postseason, it may be difficult for you guys to get the game to Foulke. Your bullpen needs to keep some excellent hitting teams at bay and hold leads. Terry Francona competes with Art Howe for the Worst Manager of the Year award. His moves are VERY questionable (some being outright stupid), and despite his mistake in Game 7 of the ALCS, I thought Grady Little was a good manager. Just sharing my quibbles with the team. I still am dreaming for a Red Sox/Cubs Fall Classic.
  8. Nah, I didn't believe it originally, but who knows? I heard it on another forum.
  9. Manny has showed lots of interest in being a Met, and Floyd is 31 and useful. Will Manny be a Met next year?
  10. Nomar Garciaparra doesn't understand something that even Ty Wigginton understands, and that's sad (Nomar is an All-Star, Ty is a measly third baseman for the Mets). Part of this game is trades. If the management find a deal that they feel will benefit the team, I see no issue in trying to deal Nomar. He took it like they didn't want him. The Sox had a chance to acquire one of the Top 3 in the game, so obviously they will take a shot.
  11. Leskanic was throwing one of the best breaking balls I have ever seen against Bernie Williams.
  12. Who knows, you may impress Delgado enough (by moving him to a playoff contender), that he may resign to a new contract after the year has expired. I like this deal. Wonder if it will actually go through.
  13. Yeah, wasn't too hard to get rid of Mo-Food Vaughn. He sure did well in a Met uniform. The Mets are not giving up Glavine. Why would they do that when they are looking for a starter? We are still in the race. Texas will not give up Soriano. The Rangers are contenders, why would they give up a hitter of that caliber? There is no relevance in that trade.
  14. Hey, Netsports here. Don't lose faith, you aren't even half-way through the season.
  15. Here's a Mets fan's perspective on all of this: Watching the game last night, even as the outcome was not in favor of the team I was rooting for (yes, the Red Sox), I was captivated. Amazing defense, flip-flop scores, Manny hitting that home run in the top of the 13th, and then, to my dismay, Flaretty (sp?) driving in the winning run in the bottom of the 13th. And you could tell that the players were engaged as well. What do you expect with 55,000+ watching the greatest rivalry in sports take their game deep into extra innings (I wanted a 14th-inning stretch!) However, one thing caught my eye during the telecast: your star shortstop is the only person in that dugout that is not standing. In my eye, Nomar has publically humiliated himself, and there must still be some sour grapes from the entire A-Rod fiasco. To see your All-Star shortstop sitting down when nobody else is is shame. And to refuse to play, when his bat could have been a major savior for the Red Sox in that tight ballgame simply stunned me. It's almost incomprehensible. Somebody needs to talk to him, before it is too late.
  16. Must win for the Sox. When I say must win, I mean must win. Hopefully Wakefield can keep the potent MFY lineup intact. I'll be flippin' between the Met game and this tonight.
  17. Games to Monitor: New York (44-25) at Baltimore (29-38), 7:05 p.m. ET Let's watch to see if Baltimore can win the rubber game of that series. A Yankee loss and a Red Sox win would but the Sox 3 1/2 games out of first place.
  18. Hello, I own NYMFans.com . It's great to see some nice comments from Red Sox fans here. I wouldn't be where I am with that board if it weren't for yezsir, this board's owner. Thanks man. roary: Check out my latest change, fixes up your prob.
  19. That game was beautiful. (From a Met fan) Congrats Red Sox, you have a new serious follower. (After my Mets, of course)
