  1. You mean Omar "Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee and Brandon Phillips for Bartolo Colon" Minaya? Minaya is an awful GM who got lucky Santana fell into his lap. I think the Yankees end up with CC and Tex. Sabathia, Wang, Joba, Mussina and Pettitte or Hughes, I'd be happy with. The only thing that scares me with Sabathia is his track record in big games. He was lit up last year when matched up against Beckett in the playoffs. Hopefully by next postseason Joba will be the ace.
  2. Cashman didn't sign the first round pick because the kid changed his mind and wanted to go to college. This doesn't make Cashman a bad general manager.
  3. Sorry, that's on the baserunner. He should have stolen second base way before that attempt.
  4. I absolutely disagree with the point about Hughes. He was pitching hurt basically from the beginning of the season. His velocity was in the low 90s and he had no command. Since he's been in rehab, his fastball has been 95 and he's hitting his spots. If he was healthy all season, I think he'd be very similar to Mike Pelfrey this year with better K-rates. Mussina has been great this year, and if Wang stayed healthy, they'd be right in the middle of it. As it is, they're going to need a miracle.
  5. Hopefully this gets them moving. I was joking with my brother before that at some point the Yankees had to pick up a game on Boston and Tampa in the same day, and it finally happened. Glad to see Gardener have a good day. I think he brings some things to the table they haven't had.
  6. It's funny, I actually took them out and then saw your reply. The Girardi quote was pretty early on, but the 'Yankees suck' quote was right before their 8 game winning streak 3 weeks ago. I'm so furious right now with the team it's just stupid. I don't think Girardi is a stupid or bad manager in the least. So I don't agree with that part. The team is not performing to where they should. They're going to score 700+ runs this year when they were supposed to score 900+. Rodriguez, Jeter, Abreu and Cano having the worst years of their career. Matsui, Posada, and Chien Ming Wang (the guy who won 38 games from '06-'07) missed just about the whole season. Hughes has been hurt and Kennedy is not ready to pitch in the majors. The only things that have gone right for them is Mussina, Rivera, Damon and up until 2 weeks ago, Chamberlain. The healthy players are not producing the way their history says they should. That's not on Girardi or Cashman. The injured players have almost exclusively been dumb luck, save maybe Posada. Also not on Girardi or Cashman. All of that was venting more than anything else, so disregard it if you'd like. I needed to get something off my chest. The Yankees definitely have one more run in them, maybe 2. I'd like to see it happen before it's too late. (And by run I mean winning surge, not crossing home plate once, although I can see how that can definitely be misconstrued.)
  7. I'll take 7 runs in 2 weeks at this point. f*** this team.
  8. Superstar talent available. Agent is Scott Boras. Only reason he falls to you in the draft is the money he'll command. You offer as much money as you want. He says he's going to college anyway. Yes, blame Cashman. Seriously, what else was he supposed to do?
  9. Hughes is in the rotation next year. Period.
  10. Or if he's throwing 95 like he was in his last minor league start, he'll be like he was in the playoffs last year. 51 losses to 57 And if the Yankees play like they have all season, it won't matter. My point is they are clearly capable of playing better, and teams like Baltimore are ones they have to beat.
  11. Can't the Yankees make up 6 games in 6 weeks? I'm as close to off the bus as you can get, but this is not impossible. We've still got 6 games head to head with Boston, 6 head to head with Tampa. Hughes is back in a week. Joba is going to throw soon. We've got the Royals, Jays and Orioles the next week and a half. They've got to start winning now, but it's not impossible. If situational hitting improves, they'll be miles better. It was only a few weeks ago they were on an 8 game winning streak.
  12. If he's healthy, he'll pitch regardless of the standings.
  13. Cashman is a very good GM, and I hope he stays for a long time. Find me one person in baseball who thought the Yankees would score 750 runs this year, and I'll entertain your rips on Cashman. The offense hasn't produced, that's why they are where they are.
  14. No way Giambi will turn down arbitration. He's not going to get anywhere close to the $20 million+ he'd get in arbitration.
  15. Throw all your starters 8 or 9 innings every time out and see where you end up. You might win 50 games if you are lucky. There's a reason things are the way they are. If Joba is healthy, pitch him. Don't f*** up the kid's arm if he's not. That would be beyond stupid. I don't want a Mark Prior.
  16. Coles, Cotchery, Keller. Faneca, Ferguson, Mangold, Woody. Thomas Jones. Yes he has to learn a new system. He also gets to run his own system because he's Brett Favre. This makes the Jets infinitely better than they were. I am beyond excited. You have no idea. I'm getting my jersey as soon as possible.
  17. The Yankees aren't an average team on the road. They have the 5th best road record in the MLB.
  18. I don't really expect him back this year at this point. The only shot we'd have to give him a start is if we had a playoff spot locked up with a few games left. The way the race is, I sincerely doubt that is going to happen. I'm hoping Hughes comes back when they're projecting him to against Baltimore this month. He was hitting 95 on the gun yesterday. That's exciting news.
  19. They have a line and a running game this year. Faneca is an exponential upgrade over the LG of last season, Woody is a solid RT. Thomas Jones is still a good every down back, and Washington is a good fit for the scatback role. Their one hole is at quarterback, and Favre would address that. Seems less likely that it's going to happen though.
  20. OMG TEH YAKNEEZ ARE TEH EVIL UMPIERE! CHEETRZ!!!
  21. I don't see the reason to bother going through all the trades they've made the last decade and a half to prove they have bad management. It's very easy to prove without trying. Winning percentages of the Pirates since 1993 1993- .463 1994- .465 1995- .403 1996- .451 1997- .488 1998- .426 1999- .484 2000- .426 2001- .383 2002- .447 2003- .463 2004- .447 2005- .414 2006- .414 2007- .420 2008- .467 Do you think that maybe management has been terrible the last 15 years? The Pirates make bad moves. You don't have losing seasons 15 years in a row by accident. If I were a Red Sox fan, I'd be asking why my GM didn't make an inquiry about Marte. Mets fans on WFAN have been killing Minaya since the Yankees made the trade. Minaya said that had he realized they would have come so cheap, he would have made an offer for them, but he didn't. The GMs of the other 28 teams effed up. The only idiots crying conspiracy are ill informed fans. Other GMs and baseball officials are not complaining the Yankees stole Marte and Nady, they're dumbfounded at how retarded the Pirates are. Nobody said the Patriots were wrong for stealing Randy Moss. The Raiders were stupid to let him go for a 4th round pick. Bad trades happen, it's not unprecidented.
  22. Wow. All praise Cash. Marte makes Farns expendable. He had his hot streak, and this is definitely his peak value. Well done. Pudge is a huge upgrade.
