  1. I know what the writers tend to think, exactly why this award was a crock. If you want to call the award "The pitcher with the most wins" do that. But as long as the award is intended for the best pitcher that season, Colon did not deserve the award. The one who deserves the award is the one who had the best year, and every single statistic says that Santana had a better year.
  2. Ok, well let's use these new fangled statistics. Colon- 21-8, 2 CG, 0 Shutouts, 3.48 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, .254 BAA, 157 K, 222.2 IP Santana- 16-7, 3 CG, 2 Shutouts, 2.87 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, .210 BAA, 238 K, 231.2 IP It isn't even close, Santana was the best pitcher in the league.
  3. One of the most unjustifiable choices for Cy Young, ever. Way to go, retarded sportswriters.
  4. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2216645 Street is the easy pick. I love Robby and I think he'll get better, but Huston was sick this year.
  5. Recognizable outfielder from a playoff team, Lawton is probably that guy. Unless somebody else comes out in the near future, then Lawton was the person referenced. I'm curious as to how liberal the appeals process is. Lawton said he didn't appeal and he was outed fairly quickly. Which guys won their appeal, and which guys probably shouldn't have is the question. I don't think we'll get an answer to those any time soon though.
  6. Fair enough, but do you think that is more informed opinion or prayerful hope? Personally, I think he's fed up for whatever reason, and wants out of Boston and will hold out.
  7. MC Hammer, my respect for you went up 83% because of the Master Shake avatar. Well played.
  8. Incredibly premature, considering we have no idea what's going to happen in the offseason. But as it stands, I guess it's fair enough.
  9. YES! A fringe major leaguer got caught with steroids! And since he played 2 weeks on the Yankees, 25% of the team must be on them. Huzzah!
  10. Is Manny is 10/5 by now? If so he can't go to the Mets if he don't wanna. Vlad ad Manny is scary as hell. Seriously, the two best hitters in the game, (with respect to Pujols and Rodriguez) back to back. Frightening.
  11. I personally thought Rowand should win. I saw him put on a hell of a display in the Bronx in center. Still, Hunter is the best CF defensively in the AL, so that goes a long way. Not a bad job with the picks, can't say I have much of an argument against them.
  12. C- Varitek 1B- Teixiera 2B- O-Hudson 3B- Chavez SS- Jeter OF- Hunter OF- Ichiro OF- V. Wells P- Kenny Rogers
  13. You guys are treating Burnett like the plague. I don't think he'll be worth what he gets, but I think he's got upside. I don't think he's a fit for the Yankees, but he's not a bad pitcher.
  14. I think he actually beat off to his wife. It's all a misunderstanding.
  15. Well, let's give him this offseason where he gets the most input, and let's see what happens. I understand everyone's cranky about losing the GM, but just relax a little bit, k?
  16. Right, I'm sure you guys would have been devastated if Cashman left for Philly. I apologized, I knew it was wrong. But that's how I honestly feel right now, I enjoy the Red Sox being in chaos. But you guys are screwed.
  17. I'm looking forward to UCLA vs. USC. That could be a fun one.
  18. damn that sucks for you guys. Sorry.
  19. He did his good soldier thing and finished the year. He's wanted out for a while, and I think the management is ready to move him if the right deal comes along. Word is he's just sick of the city of Boston and no privacy. You Bostoners and annoying him, and now he wants to go. It's your own fault!
  20. Hmm, what other "Yankee mistakes" were named in this thread. MAYBE THE GIANT THING THAT SAY CARL PAVANO IN THE TITLE. Of course, if I bring it up its wrong. Jesus are y'all niggaz that dense? I don't think Burnett would be a wise investment because he hasn't proven himself. This is similar to the experiences of Weaver and Pavano and Vazquez etc. I'd prefer a scrappy guy, for lack of a better word, who's gotten to the big leagues with hard work and not just talent. Guys like that adjust to big spots better I think. Shawn Chacon and Aaron Small come to mind. It's not like I'm saying anything controversial either, I'm agreeing with the topic starter. I don't think Burnett will be worth the paycheck he gets.
  21. I'd shy away from A.J., too many Pavanos and Weavers in my memory. (Not the NL thing, the unproven in a big spot thing)
  22. Isn't it obvious? Pavano and Womack to the Cardinals for Pujols (Albert needs a change of scenery after difficult playoff losses, and Pavano and Womack were on the last 2 NL teams to win the World Series). That fills first base for us. Then we send Wright to Reds for Griffey, because they need pitching help. Then we wheel a cheese sandwich and Cashman's first born for Barry Zito. Billy Beane has a knack for finding talent, and Cash Jr. is a stud in the making. Then we sign Billy Wagner and BJ Ryan to set up Rivera. Pujols, Cano, Jeter, Rodriguez, Matsui, Griffey, Sheffield, Posada, Giambi RJ, Mussina, Chacon, Wang, Zito Small, Rivera, Ryan, Wagner, Jesse Orosco Can't mess with that lineup
  23. I like fastball-split better than fastball-slider, personally. A split is easier to be consistent with, while sliders hang more often. Either pitch thrown properly is unhittable.
  24. Basically it doesn't matter at this point. If USC and Texas take care of their business the rest of the year, they'll play eachother for the National Title.
  25. In hoping the trend continues, George Steinbrenner has announced that the Yankees have changed their name to the Pinstripe Sox. However, this name was racist against the little known ancient "Pinstripe Tribe" of Eastern Cambodia. Steinbrenner was sued by Jesse Jackson, and imprisoned for 3 years. The renamed Yankees win the next 3 World Series.
