  1. Guess who he gave them away to? ME!
  2. Noah, buddy... contset was over long, long ago.
  3. Very nice. Yeszir, you don't by some chance still have that model of Fenway you did in Infini-D, do you?
  4. Noah's a Mets fan. Silly Mets fans.
  5. Of course, Minaya was also willing to throw in some prospects to make this trade, according to several sources. What I heard at one point was Manny for Floyd and basically the entire Mets farm system. I have to say, I would have done that in a heartbeat.
  6. It would, sure, but Theo would then use that payroll flexibility to gain additional help for the team. Besides, as good as Manny is, we know his defense isn't very good. A better defensive LF would save some of the wins that losing Manny would cost, and the other upgrades would help recoup much of the rest. Sure, they might not win 98, but they'd still win more than 90.
  7. Uh... what are you talking about? The Sox almost always win more than 90 games. They won, what, 96 (just off the top of my head) this last year. You know as well as I do that Piazza wouldn't change that.
  8. To quote an infinitely s***** movie: Whoa... upgrades. Yep, we just switched software. New look, new everything.
  9. Cubs, mainly because I love their pitching staff. How much do I love it? Well, let's just say if Prior, Wood, Zambrano, and Maddux asked me to join them in a hot tub, I'd accept without a second thought. Uh, what?
  10. Of course, you're wrong. Kim does have potential, and can be a very effective pitcher, even if you refuse to acknowledge that fact. You forget that he's only 25, and has shown that he can be an effective major league pitcher. I think you'd be suprised at what Theo could get for him.
  11. OK, clearly you either don't know how to turn caps lock off, or you're very angry all the time. Assuming the former, here's a step-by-step lesson: 1) Unplug your computer. 2) Pick up computer. 3) Open window. 4) Throw computer out window. Congratulations! You don't have to worry about caps lock any more! You realize that you're making yourself sound like a whiny 12 year old by keeping the caps lock on, right? No one's going to listen to what you have to say. Why don't you stop and try and salvage any scrap of respect we might have had for you?
  12. Once he starts facing big pressure situations, Manning starts choking more than a girl trying to deepthroat for the first time. Remember the AFC championship last year? Yeah. He can run up all the TD's he wants against the crappy AFC teams, but we'll see how it goes once the playoffs roll around and he has to face some decent defenses.
  13. Welcome to the site.
  14. I'll take the Sox chemistry and reasonable approach to building a team over a $250 million senior citizens' club any day.
  15. Well, put it this way: the Yanks haven't won a World Series since Tino left. I guess George is trying to stack the deck any way he can.
  16. Millar's worn out his welcome in my books. Shots of JD? C'mon now. Even if it's true, you can't say that. He's a liability in the field, and isn't a great hitter anyway. He's got some pop, but not enough to be an elite 1B anyway. Meanwhile, Minky may be the best defensive 1B the Sox have ever seen, and we saw last year how important defense is. He's also hit .300 several times during his career, and I think a full season with Ron Jackson can easily bring him back to that.
  17. No intelligent Sox fan thinks RJ sucks. We all know he's one of the most dominant pitchers in the league. The only thing about him (Schilling too, to be fair) is that he's pretty damn old. The Yankees have essentially pissed away their future. I guess they don't really need a farm system, since George can just go out and buy up every free agent every year, but still... Anyway, the point of all that rambling is that we know RJ is good. It's just that no one knows how much longer he's going to be productive at the ripe age of 41.
  18. Children... this has got to be the most retarded argument ever. It's basically the equivalent of "my daddy's better than your papi" and vice versa. This thread is supposed to be about RJ. Save this crap for the Fights forum.
  19. The Sox management has to realize that the 2004 team was among the most popular ever. They also know how everyone makes fun of the Yankees for all the crap George does. I'm sure they have more sense than to impose ridiculous restrictions on everyone.
  20. I assume Bronson's going to the pen now. My guess would be that he's going to be trade bait around the deadline, barring injury to another starter. I just can't see them making Wake head back into the pen.
  21. Excellent, I was hoping they'd do that. It's a lot like Mantei's contract, pretty low, with a lot of incentives. Basically, low-risk, high-reward. If Miller can get back to the way he was two years ago I like the thought of him in the rotation a lot.
  22. You'll enjoy it, whoever you see.
  23. Chances are good the Yanks will still get him, since they're one of the only teams willing to take on his salary. It's still a temporary victory, though.
  24. oriolesrule5 made a funny.
  25. Rather get Wade, as Yeszir said, but yeah, it would be awesome to watch the Yankees fans turn the Dodgers into Public Enemy #1. RJ will likely win 20 on either the Sox or Yankees, but he'll likely have around a 3.50 ERA is my guess.
