  1. Results so far: ST LOUIS beat SEATTLE 27-20 NEW YORK JETS beat SAN DIEGO 20-17 (overtime) INDIANAPOLIS is beating DENVER 35-3 at halftime MINNESOTA at GREEN BAY 4:30 PM. I called a blowout Colts over Broncos. Not even close right now. Peyton's thrown for 3 TD and run for 1.
  2. As do I. He had his ups and downs over his Sox career, but clutch pitching beats all, and I know I'm not alone when I say that I get the chills every time I see Derek Lowe throw that final pitch against the A's in the '03 ALDS. Oh yeah, and he was the winning pitcher in the 3 clinchers. I wish him a prosperous rest of his career.
  3. I wasn't suggesting the Sox sign him, just expressing my surprise that no one had.
  4. But in Nomo's case, it was more of a 1-year plummet than a decline.
  5. Sure, he had one of the worst seasons EVER recorded by a pitcher in 2004 (highest ERA of any pitcher in history with 15 decisions, an ERA of 8.25). But we're talking about a guy with ERA's of 3.39 and 3.09 the two previous years, recording a respectable record of 32-19. I'm surprised there's been ZERO talk about him this offseason, and that no one's offered him a David Wells-type contract based on his health. If he's healthy in '05 and can post an ERA of 4 in the AL or 3.5 in the NL, I'd say it'd be worth it. Thoughts on this maybe-washed up 36 year old?
  6. Delgado's an incredible ballplayer, but we have 3 first basemen, and enough premier sluggers (Ortiz, Ramirez, not to mention the fact that a healthy Nixon and a consistent Millar put up some big numbers too.) That's the position we should worry about the least.
  7. I can tell. (about Mr. April....he hit above .300 in every month except April and August in '04) I dunno, it seems as though almost every game that I saw him play in, he got some clutch hits. He was the Dbacks best and most consistent hitter through 2004, and is improving every year. About the jabs at Theo - they were taken out of context, apparently (and I can't back this, I heard this somewhere a few years back) the interview was cut up just to rile up the fans and give the media a story. And about him being hard to deal with - well, even the great Babe Ruth was an *******.
  8. Diamondbacks. Between Hillenbrand, Baerga, Fossum (former Soxers) and Brandon Webb...not to mention their World Series vs the Yankees. I like these guys. However, if they trade Hillenbrand (which appears likely this offseason), I will like them slightly less.
  9. "Shrek" AKA David Ortiz, has never faced RJ. So that is a baseless statement, and you're retarded.
  10. JETS over CHARGERS COLTS over BRONCOS (blowout IMO) SEAHAWKS over RAMS PACKERS over VIKINGS
  11. I read that in the Globe this morning. Very cool stuff. It's always nice when the media DOESN'T get ahold of certain things.
  12. Season needs to open ASAP. Are the Sox facing the Mets next year?
  13. Does he go to our school and I'm just a dick and don't know him? EDIT: Nope, checked the directory, I'm clear.
  14. Oh man, I have two quotes in sigs now, gosh am I popular or what? I'd lean towards what.
  15. Holy crap! One of our new members in the past month is a smart poster!!! We're one for 20!!!
  16. Dodgers? OH NO! They pulled out. So nevermind. Good luck on the RJ quest.
  17. I didn't forget him *******. These three teams swapped shortstops. And you spelled "to" wrong 5 times.
  18. He's yankeehater's friend i think.
  19. Apparently our genius friend here doesn't know who Ted Williams is.
  20. God I hope not. I'm ecstatic he's the captain. According to his teammates, he means more to the organization than anyone else. He's the first captain since Rice in 89, and he'll be the captain for the next four years. Hopefully there won't be any power struggles, but I think Tek is hugely respected, and I can't wait to see Boras proved correct (ew, I know) and see Tek become the next Fisk. Only better. We'll follow you anywhere Captain Tek.
  21. Final Tally - Orlando Cabrera signs with Angels for 4 Years, 32 Million David Eckstain signs with Cardinals for 3 Years, 10.75 Million Edgar Renteria signs with Red Sox for 4 Years, 40 Million Funny the way things work out. What will be most exciting is seeing how the three shortstops do next year in comparison to each other. Renteria was the most expensive, and Eckstein was the cheapest by far. Makes you wonder why the Sox didn't just stick with Cabrera, who already established himself as a fan favorite. But in Theo we trust, I guess.
  22. No buddy, you're a cool guy.
  23. No really. You are a god among men. I can't believe you talked to Wade Boggs. Because that was really him and everything. PS - heathurler was banned from this site for his sheer stupidity. Take a hint amigo.
  24. Oh my gosh, you talked to Wade Boggs? And Heathurler is your friend? I can't wait to hear what you have to contribute to our site. You sound like a true sox fan. I'm going to leave this post here because of its sheer quality.
  25. I'm Jewish and don't mind. Hanukah is over, I wish most people I see happy holidays, and for the most part, I end up hearing happy holidays in return. It's just easier to say, and I sure don't care if someone assumes I'm christian when 1% of the world is jewish.
