  1. FIFTEEN GAMES AGAINST KANSAS CITY AND DETROIT IN ONE MONTH? Pinch me, please. That's ridiculous. The CWS, TEX, MIN stretch could prove to be a little tough, as the White Sox are clearly the team to beat, Texas is always an offensive force, and any game against Santana doesn't look to fare too well. But the Sox NEED to capitalize against those weaker teams. And if they can take down the Angels, who really don't have the spark this year, that'll be for the better. I'd love to see the Sox leave august with a 20-9 record. Imagine sweeping the Royals three times? Good lord.
  2. That's just stupid. Why would Papi turn on the Sox if Manny WANTS to be traded. The Red Sox wouldn't have ever considered a trade had Manny not asked out. My problem with this trade - not only do we lose Ramirez and get two mediocre outfielders - which blows - but we give up TWO TOP PROSPECTS in Anibel Sanchez and Kelly Shoppach.
  3. Yahoo Gamechannel skipped it too.
  4. Gameday unfroze...if you look back an inning, they just skipped over the play. That's ridiculous.
  5. What the f*** did I just witness? Are any/all of those runs earned? How many errors? Whaaaaa?
  6. You know, Griffey had similar stats at age 30 too. As much as I dislike A-rod, I truly hope he doesn't become another Griffey, suffering a series of ridiculous injuries to slow down/stop certain aspects of his career. A-Rod is the best all-around player in baseball, and will probably stay that way until the end of his overpaid career.
  7. The latest I've seen on ESPNews is that the Orioles are the leading candidates. I guess we won't know till we know.
  8. There will be a lot of disappointed fans if this deal happens. I've always liked Arroyo...but Burnett...confused...mixed feelings.
  9. Arghh. Leadoff double to Sheff.
  10. July 12, 2005 -- DETROIT - The Yankees and Red Sox are teammates for one day in tonight's All-Star Game at Comerica Park. Come Thursday in Boston that will all change. The Yankees will not stand for any more attacks on Alex Rodriguez from the Red Sox like last July when Jason Varitek shoved his glove in the superstar's face, the Shove seen 'round the world. The days of the Red Sox challenging Rodriguez physically or verbally, like they did throughout spring training when they repeatedly chirped that Rodriguez was not a "true Yankee" are done. The Yankees finally have A-Rod's back at Fenway and everywhere else. "We're going to bring our gold, our jewel in there, which is A-Rod," Gary Sheffield told me yesterday during the American League All-Star interview session. "We're going to see how the chips fall this time. That's our man and we know he's our man. "We're going to look out for him when he's in a situation like that." I asked Sheffield exactly what he meant by that statement. "When he's in a hostile environment, we've got to make sure he's comfortable because it helps our team," Sheffield answered. And if something like the Varitek incident happens again? "That's why I say it's going to be different," Sheffield said, looking me straight in the eye. "We're going to make sure that Alex is taken care of." If all that sounds like fighting words, so be it. The Yankees have come together as a team this crazy first half of a season in many ways. After last October's spectacular choke job to Boston, there is payback coming the Red Sox's way as far as the Yankees are concerned and it starts Thursday with the Yankees protecting their superstar - Rodriguez - any way they have to at Fenway. If you are a Yankee fan, these are the words you've been waiting to hear since Rodriguez joined the club. Rodriguez is appreciative of the backup. "We've been through a lot together, a lot of guys don't know half the stuff we've been through as a team," he said, offering a rare view inside the Yankees' closed world. "To be in the situation we are right now, we are very fortunate," Rodriguez added. "Our worst times are behind us." The Yankees trail the first-place Red Sox by only two games in the loss column. A-Rod was quick to credit teammates, especially Jason Giambi, in helping to lift the fortunes of the club. The Yankees have been humbled by the bad times they've been through and also say they have grown as a team from those difficult days. Noted Rodriguez, "Everybody on this team has been attacked from every angle. I think we've become a closer team. Now we are united. We talk amongst each other much better than last year. I think this is as tight this team has been - one through 25 - since I've been here." Even the Red Sox have noticed a change. "Alex is one of the top three players in the game," Johnny Damon said. "He's finding his niche in New York now." A-Rod admitted it has taken time for him to get to know his teammates and for his teammates to get to know him. "It's something that you can't accelerate what you try to do," he explained. "The trials and tribulations this team has gone through has helped us come together." Tonight A-Rod will be batting second, right behind Damon, in front of Red Sox sluggers David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez. He is surrounded by Red Sox. Asked what he thought about such a lineup, A-Rod paused for a few seconds before saying, "It's kind of ironic that a Red Sox is protecting me. It's kind of weird." The truth is that for the first time in his Pinstriped career, Alex Rodriguez can go into the lion's den that is Fenway Park and know in his heart that he is being protected by his Yankee teammates. As Sheffield promised, "It's going to be different."
  11. Abreu deserved to win it. That was absolutely ridiculous watching him crush those HRs - 24? Jeeebus. Oh, and 17 for Papi (second most EVER) isn't too shabby in one round. He represented the Sox well.
  12. I think 1 inning of work wouldn't hurt either of them, after all, too much rest could be bad for pitchers (see: Bronson Arroyo).
  13. This doesn't mean he'll be starting, or even playing for that matter. We should all just be honored to have FIVE (Manny, Papi, Johnny, Tek, Clement) guys representing the Sox and Papi representing the team and his country in the Derby. And if Kenny Rogers turns down the spot, we could have 6 all stars.
  14. He gets 29 million from 05-08. I'm pretty sure that means he's staying over in Oakland.
  15. f*** you Matos and your ridiculously beautiful catch. Good swing by Papi as what shoulda been a HR to dead center.
  16. KAPLER SET FREE!!!!
  17. Hahahahaa! Oh...you're not joking. I see. And yes, on forums, you're entitled to your opinions, but this is just ridiculous. You only have to watch one game to realize that Millar can never play any other infield position.
  18. My american league vote went something like: 1B - Teixeira 2B - Roberts 3B - Mueller (sorry, just can't vote for A-Rod, even though he blatantly deserves it) SS - Tejada C - V-Tek DH- Papi OF - Manny OF - Johnny OF - Vladdy I think A-rod deserves the all-star vote, but I couldn't vote for him.
  19. That's another blurb from AP I believe. This all sounds very promising. But I still say don't push it. We're doing decent without him, so bring him back after the allstar break after 2 more rehab starts.
  20. From Pawsox.com:
  21. Well you know that Lee will make the squad regardless, perhaps jumping in as designated hitter. He's been outstanding, and he'll either get in as that final man (i forget the name) or LaRussa will bring him in. But Pujols gets the benefit of the doubt, as well as having the name people know.
  22. I was so happy in that one inning when the Mets got 3 runs on terrible defense...and RJ getting all the "f***ed over" for it. I was so happy in that one inning when Sheffield got ejected for tooling on the umpire (maybe rightly so, but it's fun watching Sheff flip out and get ejected. *******.) Then I remembered that their closer is Looper. If you can ever call him a closer. That was just bad pitching in the 9th. Don't walk Tino. Moron.
