  1. Ugh. They stranded the leadoff triple. That's inexcusable.
  2. Great game. Most entertaining of the year so far.
  3. Would I let go of Youk? Yeah sure, if it meant Beltran. Alvarez? No way in hell I want him traded. He's our future #2 starter and a great pitcher. Shoppach I think has to stay with the uncertainty of Tek next year, and plus, Zenny would have a heart attack. Murton, Murphy, Lester, and West aren't going anywhere either. Unlike the Yankees, Theo has to grow an actual farm system.
  4. Millar and McCarty are both pretty bad in LF, and McCarty is much better than Millar at 1b, so you come to the logical conclusion that it sould be Millar and LF and McCarty at 1B. And once again, Crespo is on this team because he plays multiple positions and he was playing infield so you don't have to burn Nomar and give him the last 2 innings a a blowout game off. And why are we even having this conversation? It was 11-0 so who cares what the defensive positioning is? Anyways, great moral win for the team and for Derek. Ortiz and Pokey seemed to really shine today, along with Trot. Let's sweep San Fran!
  5. Quick question, where do you find their stats for their latest game?
  6. Age: 23 Born: November 23, 1980 Resides: Jacksonville, FL Height: 6-4 Weight: 220 Bats: Right Throws: Right Drafted: 4th Round, 2003 How Acquired: Draft College: Mississippi State High School: Bishop Kenny High School ETA: late 2006 Scouting Report: Good pitcher's build with a live arm and solid delivery. Good fastball, slurve curveball, decent change, and a promising breaking ball. Started 2004 atop Sarasota's rotation. ESPN on Papelbon (May 21, 2004) Friday, May 21, 2004 Sox's Papelbon adjusting to new role ------------------------------------------------------------------------ By John Sickels Special to ESPN.com Geoffrey from Dartmouth, Mass., writes: I was wondering about Red Sox prospect Jon Papelbon. He has the second most strikeouts in the Florida State League. Is he a legitimate prospect, and if so is his future as a starter or reliever? Papelbon currently stands 3-3 with a 3.66 ERA in eight starts for the Sarasota Red Sox, with a 53/14 K/BB ratio in 39.1 innings. He's allowed 29 hits and just two homers thus far. A Mississippi State product, he was drafted by the Red Sox in the fourth round last year. He pitched poorly in the New York-Penn League last summer, posting a 6.34 ERA, so his strong performance in 2004 represents significant improvement. Papelbon was a reliever in college, but the Red Sox are trying him out as a starter, and so far it seems to be working OK. His fastball has been clocked as high as 95 mph, though when he is used as a starter it is more commonly in the 90-92 range, which is still good enough. He has a slider and a changeup, both of which are inconsistent right now, though better than last year at this time. His command is pretty decent, but he sometimes gets in ruts and won't trust his stuff, nibbling too much. That should get better with experience. We need to see what Papelbon does at higher levels. So far, the conversion to starting seems to be going pretty well, but he could end up back in the bullpen at some point if his slider and changeup remain erratic. 7. I'm pissed off to about this and I know there is no excuse why we are losing to the friggin' Rockies, but we've just lost 2 straight games. That's not that big of deal. Granted, we've been playing .500 ball since late May, but let's not go overboard. There is no way wer are getting 2 pitchers and a bat before the deadline, so can forget about that. Don't act like a Yankee fan after getting swept by us and keep thinking that sky falling, cuz it isn't. This team is just going through a little slump right now, so no need to implode the minor league system. And if you think there's a chance Theo would do any of this, then you're high on something.
  8. This team is going to f***ing kill me at age 13.
  9. I'll take Jon Papelbon. Good idea guys.
  10. Ugh. One of the worst losses of the season. I'm pissed off now.
  11. If you like offense, this is going to be you game.
  12. I'm assuming you mean when Nomar comes back, in that case I believe it will be Andy Dominique who is sent down. It would be Crespo, but he can play almost every position, and that's valuable in a bench player. Now if only he could hit........
  13. That is very strange. The boy's scrawny enough so maybe he is speedy.
  14. Hey man and welcome. I look forward to chatting with you. But the best part is I'm not longer the youngest member on this site! Woo hoo!
  15. I'm in. Good idea, yeszir.
  16. Man, I wish Darrel May pitched today for KC. We might have shot at winning if that happened. But in all seriousness I really don't know what to expect from Derek today. He could suck as usual or he could be decent and maybe get back on track. I just want him to keep us in the ballgame.
  17. Foulke needed some work. He'll be even better tomorrow if he needs to come in having already had an inning under his belt tonight. It's better to pitch one inning after pitching one innings the day before than coming in after not pitching in 4 days (at least for a reliever).
  18. Phew! Glad to get a win out of the way. Maybe we can go on a little win streak now. That would be nice. Lowe gets his stuff back tomorrow.
  19. 4 in a row. 3 1/2 back. Nuff ced.
  20. Alright now we're on the board. Now to gobble up a few more runs.
  21. This game is pretty disgusting.
  22. Man, this team is really boring to watch right now.
