  1. TEK! 8-5. This thing isn't as over as well all thought I guess.
  2. At the very least, scoring some runs will prove to the yankees that we're a force to be reckoned with, and it will take away a bit of the momentum should they win
  3. 8-3, and Bernie Williams has grandma knees.
  4. No more perfect game, and someone PLEASE tell them that his name is BRONSON, BRONSON! NOT BRANDON!
  5. The Red Sox have not made a World Series appearance in my lifetime. I can only recall 3 playoff years. Right now the sox are getting creamed 6-0 in the top of the 4th in game 1 of the ALCS. Don't misunderstand me please. I'm not jumping ship and declaring the sox dead, as yankee fans tend to do when their team hits the first sign of trouble. I'm just speaking my mind and admitting things that most sox fans won't admit, even though they know it's true. I don't expect the sox to win this year. You don't either when it's all said and done. I can hope, sure, but I don't expect them to win. And deep down, I know they most likely won't. They're the Red Sox dammit. But that's the thing. They are the Red Sox. The Red Sox are the Red Sox because they blow it and give their fans ulcers. That's what they do, there's no denying it. We can all have a good laugh and a few heart attacks about it. I don't really know how to say this without sounding like a complete dumbass, but I kind of don't want the sox to win it that badly. I can accept defeat, my entire baseball fan career has been centered around it. If the sox win, doesn't that take the fun out of it? Won't we just be like any other team? We'd have won a championship, sure, but what then? The joy of the sox (take the word Joy with a grain of salt) is that they don't win. Ever. I don't really know how to put it into words though. I'm not rooting for the f***ing yankees, far from it. I'm rooting for the sox with all my might, believe me. It's just that I know, no matter how much I and all of Boston root, that the odds are against us. Watching this game now, I'm hoping it's quick and easy. No "what ifs" or "what could have beens". They may just get slaughtered. Watching this game you half expect them to. Meh, I don't even know what I'm trying to say. I want them to win, but I dont, because what fun would it be then? I try to be optimistic about the team, but it's kinda hard to do, you know? Oh well.
  6. Commence the freaking out about Schilling....
  7. Not the start I would have preferred, but nothing that isnt insurmountable. And I call feel the yankee bias in the broadcast every time any one of them opens his mouth. It's annoying.
  8. All pictures have been deleted from this thread. edit: except for the first one, because its funny.
  9. I have so much stuff to do tonight too. I need to get it all done before gametime, so I guess not too much talksox for me to get ready.
  10. We're trying to arrange some ticket giveaways (or prizes) for next season. So to answer your question, yes.
  11. Ok. Let's knock it off please. I dont want to split this thread and put some of it in the fights section. No need to be overly PC, but no need to be cruel to make a point.
  12. This move makes sense. Mendoza has boatloads of playoff experience and has pitched well. As sad as it is to see youk get left off the roster, he'll have many more chances ahead of him.
  13. Yea, that whole shirt controversy is stupid. Why would MLB endorse and profit from a Sox bashing shirt. It's so stupid.
  14. I do......because he is a young'n.
  15. Oh. Yea, me too.
  16. Despite pitching well in the postseason, and even against Boston, Mussina has a horrible record. It's because he's been matched up, as the number 1 starter, with Pedro. He'll have a tough matchup again this year with Schilling.
  17. But he said he broke up the no hitter. It wasnt anything by the end of the game, but when dinosaur carl got the hit, Mussina had a perfect game going.
  18. It was a perfect game, not a no hitter. This one will be close, both are great pitchers.

    Pedro

But that was 4 and a half years ago. May 6th, 2000 to be exact. He hasn't complained of lack of run support in a while because the sox have scored with their explosive lineup when he's pitched.
  20. Lots and lots of ass kissing. Start now young'n.
  21. The header bar reads "5 outs better?" And it's a valid point. We were better than the yankees last year and we had them beat. This year we're a better team than last, definitely at LEAST 5 outs better.

  23. Welcome to both Johnny and Sox Fan in Tex. Should be a great series, no doubt about it.
