When it comes to making the Baseball Hall of Fame, which numbers should mean the most?

Is Chris Sale making a HOF case for himself?  He was named to his 10th All-Star game. 

Your explanation as to why Dwight Evans isn't in the HOF?

Sale is a close call and may need a season or two good seasons to get him in.

I think Evans belongs. I think the reason he's not in is because he never really had an amazing season. Never hit 35 HRs in a season. While he led the league in OPS, twice, he only got as high as 3rd in an MVP vote.

To me, consistent excellent play on O and D deserves the Hall, I think many voters want to see the best of the best for at least a season or two.

Evans only dipped below .745 twice in his 20 year career: year 2 at .703 (328 PAs) and season 19 at .740. (522 PAs.)

He had a 130 OPS+ from year 3 to year 18 (16 seasons.) Every season between .750 and .990.

126 year 6-10 (age 25-29)

133 year 11-15 (age 30-34)

133 year 16-20 (age 35-39)

He got better with age.
