Question of the week: will the Red Sox secure a home field round in the postseason?

They're half a game out of the top wild card, which would net them a home round in the postseason. Will they do it?

I doubt it. Too many issues have emerged.  Anthony is out for the rest of the season and maybe Abreu is too. Bregman's in a slump (12 games).  Crochet just got shellacked in his last start.  Bello didn't look so good either. Nor has May.  We all loved how Tolle looked in his first start, but he will continue to be limited in his pitch count and how often he starts.  All of those pale into insignificance when compared to the catastrophic loss of Jordan Hicks, now on the IL with a bad shoulder.  Will this nightmare never end?

The first IL that is actually good news this season. Cora will not be able to use him. Anyone in the minors should be an improvement.

Winning the division is still not out of the question, especially since we have 3 games remaining with the Yankees and 3 games remaining with the Jays.  If I'm being honest, I don't think it will happen, but it's not out of the question.

That said, I'm not that concerned about whether we secure home field advantage.  Just get into the playoffs.
