The problem is our starters aren’t going to throw shutout innings.

Yeah. None of them. No shutout innings it seems. OK, thats an exaggeration, but our pitching totally sucks and is the reason we will likely not make the playoffs.

The problem with Price this inning was way too many fastballs without any changeups. I'd like to blame that on Chavez, but I'm pretty sure Price has no hesitation in shaking off signs.

You somehow have to beat good pitching as well. It goes both ways .

He started this game with three shut out innings. That's a crappy start?

I dunno if anyone here has confidence in this team in a one game playoff vs the A's, Rays or Guardians.. either way I can see the SOX winning but winning a post season series? No way.

I am talking about starting off the season playing bad and getting many games under 500.

Isn’t it how you finish? Price needed to match Morton.

He has now allowed three runs in less than five innings-so far. Yes, thats a crappy start.

Guardians and A's will be in there. Best pitching and best moxie. This team is brain dead and the other guys...they find a way to win. The Sox find a way to lose.

Ehhh.. I think that you are being a bit coarse. This team does have a ton of talent.. they have as good a chance to make the WC as anyone in the AL. I'm not writing them off just yet.

*EDIT*

Acquiring a few arms is a must though.

Price hasn't been bad. He has to nibble. His stuff isn't good enough to blow guys away. He has become a pitcher who needs to set the batters up and speed up their bats then get them to K on the change. Therefore, he cannot miss in the zone. He missed on that double.

I am not saying this team doesn't have the talent to make it into the playoffs. I am saying that I can't see them doing it based on the performance they have exhibited this year. Having the talent to do something and actually doing it on the field are two separate things. Unless the pitching does an about face I am sticking to my prediction. And there is no evidence that that is going to happen.

Too inconsistent. When you dig yourself a hole to start the season it’s difficult. Now every game is important because you’re in a race for the wildcard.

I have two hopes for MLB baseball:

1) That idiot Manfred gets rid of the rocket ship (not likely...if anything he will likely continue to make it MORE of a rocket)

2) That command again become the priority for pitchers it once was and/or the general level of sludge that represents as MLB pitchers DISAPPEARS

Hitting discipline will follow what happens with the baseball and the pitchers though some assistance regarding the overload shift would likely help as well. That would be third on my list.
