ER’s development has been disappointing.

 

It sure has. I think he has a good array of pitches (especially his changeup), but lacks command--and could use a curve ball.

And no matter how dominant he is through 4 or 5 innings, he always blows up in the 5th or 6th even if he has a low pitch count after 4 or 5. In that regard, he is as reliable as a Swiss watch.

Agreed and at first I thought maybe he was hiding an injury.... But now I think he is just in a slump and it's getting into his head big time. Missing JD and Moreland sucks but on paper we should have enough talent that we shouldn't be losing series the way we are. In 3 of the 4 games against Tampa we put up 4 god damn runs.... You're telling me because we are missing a couple of guys that makes it ok for us to have 4 runs...... Cora needs to do something and do something fast. If missing 2 guys means we can't score runs then we might as well blow this team up and rebuild.

 

I think his isn't the only head case. I think the whole team right now lacks confidence--and this all started with the horrible starts at the beginning of the season that put the Sox in a hole. Now when the starter gives up early runs, the lineup is saying, "oh, no, not again," instead of, "no sweat, we got this." When the Sox lose this year, it's a much bigger deal than when they lost last year.
