When You Believe in Things You Don't Understand - Superstition

Was ready about Kelly walking around Fenway during his suspension. He stopped in a few different places around the park watching the game. The Sox started scoring run at one location, he thought it was good luck he was there and stayed there the rest of the game. Superstition.

Wondering if any of you superstitions? I still never wan't to say a pitcher is having a good game, or so and so it hot at the plate. It always seems to end up on the wrong side...

Baseball is full of superstitions, maybe more than any other sport. Even though I consider myself to be a rational thinker I sometimes got swooped up into it too. Although I never told any of my teammates about it I always had the same thing to drink before every game and always wore the same socks as long as we were on a winning streak. I even told myself how ridiculous it was and how those things couldn't possibly make a difference in the outcome of a game - but I did them anyway.

Dave O'Brian is notorious for NOT buying into superstitions. If a pitcher has a no-no going on he's the first one to talk about it, and it always makes me cringe.

I am convinced that the Red Sox lose games and the Yankees win games based on what I do/say or fail to do/say.

And yet at the same time, I know that can't possibly be true.

I refuse to have any yankee players past or present on my fantasy teams.

I actually usually like drafting them, because for me its the logic of "if they suck, good, f*** them, they're yankees anyway", and if they're doing good "well at least its helping me in some way". Didi has been a blessing this year, and Sanchez/Severino were great for me last year.

I am actually the exact opposite. I have drafted an almost all Yankees team, and refuse to have any Sox players on my team for fear of jinxing them.

My hope is to jinx the Yankees, but if that doesn't work, at least I get some benefit out of them playing well.

To be clear, I NEVER pull for the Yankees to play well. I would much rather my fantasy team take the hit.

Exactly my though process. LOL
