Sox just aren't a clutch team this year. That's all this mediocrecy boils down to. A good clutch team can hit as well as normal or better than normal with RISP. Sox are hitting much lower than their batting average with RISP.

I guess they did it because Holt and Herrera are similar players and they wanted a s***** right handed 3B instead of 2 LH hitting 3B.. I don't know.

There's a skill to not being worse than your average in the clutch, and that is clutch hitting. Debatable whether or not some players are better than normal in the clutch; that's a whole different conversation.
