Sounds like they're looking to be assessed. Every owner sans George (RIP) has a price. If the sox get appraised for $3+ billion and they get an offer in that ballpark, then he'd be dumb not to take it as it would be over a 100% ROI

This looks like a highly plausible story. Henry denied all this today on WEEI, but that should be expected. It's much too early to let the cat out of the bag. Besides, the cat probably isn't even in the bag yet.

I see the salary dump simply as a very smart baseball move. Sure, it helps them sell the team, absolutely. But I doubt they'll sell it, unless they fail to rebuild over the next year or two.

THey invested a ton into Fenway. It would have to be a mind blowing offer to walk away from Fenway, because selling the team won't happen without fenway and nesn in the package.
