Do the sox really need more infielders ? or is it pitching that this club is in need of ? One possible explanation could be that they want some backup for Middlebrooks in case his hamstring acts up again.

They need depth at third. Punto can't do squat and there's no one else behind him. No one wants the Sox pitchers.

The Sox have a glut of utility infielders who are readily available. In addition their farm system has several solid prospects. What they need are pitchers.

Aviles can play 3B. But Punto has a 2-year contract, and the front office would play a dog if he had a 2 year contract. Ciriaco should be playing SS.

Time and time again, we see this front office not putting the best team out there because of other overriding factors. Their policy sucks. The team just doesn't put winning at the highest priority.

That unified show of "approval" for Bobby V yesterday is one of the biggest jokes in sports I've seen this year. A blatant attempt to deflect the blame from the real culprits--the people doing the "approval". They have no credibility.

Catcher.

They need a catcher.......a REAL catcher.

Haha, that is so depressing. All the time when I think about this team and what is wrong and so on I come up with wanting to get rid of a lot of our pitchers, hating the approach on at-bats (which would be a coachin issue too, no?) and being on the fence about what should happen to a few position players like Crawford and so on.

So basically at this point this team has issues EVERYWHERE, apparently. And in all that anger about these issues I usually forget to factor in Salty. That just shows how bad it really is, because IMO the question marks are not minor with him and hoping for natural progress doesn?t make me feel comfortable.

But then again, does anybody know how the Red Sox view Salty? Is there any indication that they are really happy with him as a catcher? Because I don?t take him being the starting catcher as an indication for that, since the Red Sox FO recently hasn?t been exactly been too ambitious, so I wouldn?t be surprised if they are kind of meh on him, but can?t decide what to do.

Our infield is fine. If next year we have Agonz, Pedroia, Ciriaco, and Middle brooks with Aviles as the primary infield backup utility guy.... that's a solid infield.

Agree 100%- aviles can play 3b, ss,and 2b, would be a decent ph and could probably pinch run and play OF in a pinch.

Aviles should play some third, he has a good arm but minus range for shortstop, but as a secondary third baseman he should be good.

Punto for 2 years was the biggest joke of a signing..

2 Years? s***, I thought I have a month and a half and then I never have to see him again.
