This isn't a real life version of MLB2k12....... You can't/don't just give up on 2 starting pitchers after a half a season of subpar pitching

One or both won't be playing for Boston this time next year.

No' date=' they should get something, but he obviously would be dealt 50 cents on the dollar.[/quote']

I just think it's funny how Lester will get 50 cents on the dollar, but Garza will require 2 top 50 prospects.

Even a strikeout does not result in an out for this pitching staff. First inning 4 to 0 jays, after winnig the previous two games. Lester strikes out the hitter and the ball goes by salty..safe at first base. Next hitter bunts, Lester is still on the mound. This is a debacle and now these pitchers like lester have had their market value crushed because everyone is well aware of how far they have fallen. I'm starting to really wonder what is behind the scenes of this story that we are not privy to. There has to be so so much more going on. What though ?

When you have a pitcher so obviously low on confidence who gets easily smashed over the wall first pitch, you know things are going to go badly from there on in.

I'd have been right out there and then talking to him telling him to start again etc etc, and if things were still going badly then I'd replace him.

When someone is so fragile mentally, it doesn't just come back in game when things start so badly.

the sox got peanuts for Youkilis. They should get something for Lester' date=' but you really think he is gonna bring an ace haul back when he is pitching to a 5+ ERA and only going 5 innings?[/quote']

The sox had reason to trade youk..... Yeah he was slumping, but he was blocking WMB and youk in turn was blocked by Ortiz and gonzo for playing time... Did we get much in return? No... Tell me who Lester is blocking from the majors that we should just dump him off for ".50 cents on the dollar"??

I guess the Yankees should dump texiera for a couple low level prospects, because clearly he's playing like s*** compared to his career numbers this year????

I am a little surprised they are letting Lester pitch like this. You can see that his mechanics are still a disaster. Middle of ML baseball games are no place to try to work stuff out.

It pains me to say it' date=' but it's time to give up on John Lester and Beckett. I have never seen two experienced veterans fall apart at such a rapid pace. Do the sox need a new pitching coach ? How can this happen every time ? First pitch is a home run, second batter walks, Beckett gives up how many yesterday in the first. Why can't the sox fix this ?[/quote']

BTW, I doubt if Bob McClure is back next year in any case.

SELL at the deadline please.

Isn't their some junkies you should be arresting right now somewhere??

( that was meant purely for entertainment, not being a dick, but with everyone on edge lately-figured I'd let you know I was joking )<_>

Lester isn't just pitching poorly he is pitching about as bad as one can pitch. For what its worth, I don't Bob McClure is a positive facor either.

Sox are making that decision easy for management now Chin Music. I posted a few days ago that I thought the interest in Garza might be more related to fear that the rotation might totally implode when you consider Felix and Frank have to be on innings limits and Lester and Beckett are well Lester and Beckett.

Seems to me they might still have to do something just to get the rotation through the season but other than that, at this rate, I just think this team is now making the decision for management.

Yeah.... Cause that's how you run a team.....everytime someone veers off track for a few months, ship them out for nothing... Makes complete sense

Is our pitching coach useless or what
Isn't there anyone in the organization on the payroll in some capacity that they can call on to break down Lester and figure out WTF is wrong with him. Tiant works for the team. Eckersely too. teams have been known to call on former players when the coaches can't figure out stuff. Heck, the Sox were always calling on Phil Niekro to help Wake, and Niekro wasn't even on our payroll and never played for us. There are no other pitching coaches in our system who are familiar with Lester?

Two of AGons last four HR's have been crushed so I think we can safely say that whatever has been contributing to his power outage it is not his shoulder....that has to be the best news we could get on him .

I think it is more than veers off course for a few months. There is more going on. I believe that if Beckett weren't around Lester would be more likely to get it together. Plus, I have no confidence in McClure as a pitching coach. He was hired as an afterthought.
