It's like falling behind in the count w/every batter in every game.

Poor offense is always behind.

Ortiz is da bomb. I would f***ing hate it if he left Boston. He deserves to retire in the uniform.

No, he deserves better.

Think the folks touting the great pitching match-ups/Sox take 3 of 4 stuff before this weekend are seeing something different on the field than we are? I just don't get it for the life of me.

The natives sound restless in Fenway...that is a good thing I think

Brennen I really think that the "everything is fine" crowd for the most part has not seen as much baseball as the "whoops" crowd and in their defense, this is really the first time they are seeing this kind of baseball. If you were not watching baseball in the 70's you don't even know what the hell you are lookin' at right now. Your view of baseball has been to much engaged by the Steroid era.

As a result, while I believe in the numbers as much as anybody....they tend to look at the wrong numbers or look at the numbers from the wrong perspective at least in my view. As for defense, the contemporary matrices have not even been developed yet to properly provide a means to really look at defense in a contemporary fashion. The guys that are mainly responsible for the contemporary baseball matrices admit they have not as yet developed reliable matrices for defense. We still end up looking at things like errors which tells no story at all.

Reason it matter is because we are going back to baseball as it was played in the 1970's. My God, for me at least it is scary to think how old you have to be to know what that looked like. But, if Uncle Bud does not do something to change how the game is played, that is what we are going back to. It might happen. Before Steroids, baseball did all kinds of things to hold down the impact of pitching and as an indirect result the impact of defense on the game. I would not be completely surprised if Uncle Bud did not feel compelled to make rules changes. I just don't know ultimately how the rank and file baseball fan of today will react to these lowered power numbers. Will they even like this kind of baseball? I just don't know. I am fine with it. I always was fine with it but that is me.

By the way...mean no disrespect to anybody here. You just don't know how much I wish I did not know what baseball looked like in the 70's for a multitude of reasons.

It is sad that it has gotten to the point where some fans are actually rooting against the team because they truely believe the ignorant fools who run this organization will not do anything to change unless they really tank the rest of the year.

Everyone from fans to various media to other teams fans can see that this current group cannot get it done. EVERYONE but this front office. They have to take off their rose colored glasses and truly accept that they put together an underachieving squad.

Couldn't find the post from earlier but someone mentioned being a lifelong Sox fan who lived through many frustrating losing seasons but was never embarrassed to be a fan of the organization until this year.

This has become embarrassing on so many levels and is a shame to let happen to any fan base, let alone a fan base as loyal as the fans of this team.

Thing with me is I don't think I ever recall seeing such a hot and cold team. This team can be so good one week and be one game or half a game away from a wild card spot. And the next week completely fall flat on their face and be six games out from a wild card.

There is a part of me that would like to see some major changes in this organization. However there is still a big part of me that believes this team can still go on to win 8 or 9 games in a row. We are the best suckiest team in MLB right now. I just can't believe Everytime I think this team is going In the right direction and improving it gets snatched away and they lose 5 or 6 games in a row. If it was any other team then the Sox I would probably just give up. But this team still has to much talent to just lay down like this.

This team can sweep anyone or be swept by anyone. And right now they are showing a good example of that. Potentially could be swept twice in a row. Absolutely sickening.

Sure you have. They are your typical .500 baseball team.

Enjoy the game gents. A bit late for me as I am working tomorrow.

Let's not give them a 4 or 5 run headstart this time though eh boys!

Understood. I guess it sucks for all. We all have our ways of dealing with it, mine is a detatchment from the team so that I can live my life without being miserable.
