Just stating my opinion dude.

Its going to be very very tough to beat Hamels now.

We have a better chance tomorrow and Sunday.

Then why not say that instead of "this game is over"

You obviously cannot read. I said most pitchers come back within 12 months' date=' but the recovery for a starter's stamina and stuff to return is 18 months. I said he will not be the previous DiceK until September, and with his minor league stats thus far, I am right to this point. I also said that relievers usually can return to dominance faster since they dont have to throw multiple innings.[/quote']

Umm...Jacko, I hope he is NEVER the same DiceK.

Do I need to preface everything with "in my opinion"?

The FACT is that its just the 3rd inning; the game is NOT over.

1 down and phillys pen is pretty bad last I checked. Keep it close and go to work on them.

Last time I checked, so is ours.;)

Three runs isn't terrible, but Hamels without a DH is a rough rough matchup.

If you want to be a starter Bard ' date=' Cut down on the damn walks . Having a BB/9 over 5 isn't going to be effective.[/quote']

Pitch selection first.

BornToRun always the optimist.Dude what have u been watching the last few years with this club?

One of the upper tier teams in baseball.

Posted

Way I see it:

Bard is an excellent reliever, he is a mediocre starter.

Dice K sucked, sucks and will continue to suck.

Team needs to stop handing out contracts like Crawford and A-Gon, Theo never seriously pushed for a guy like Sabathia, Lee, Haliday etc. In a division that is usually won by 1-4 games, that could be all the difference.

We need management that values pitching over all else.

Lay off Born to Run....we need optimists here. Otherwise, the rest of us would be stuck with ourselves alone here. :D

He went out and got Lackey and DiceK, so it isnt like he didnt value pitching. He just decided to go second tier when filling it instead of loading up on durable aces, which are few and far between.

Huge contracts to pitchers are risky business.

s*** we'd have all shot each other by now!

I think that Epstein's problem is that he was unable to recognize pitching talent. He valued it, but could not judge it, so he brought in stiffs like Lackey and DiceK and Jenks and all the other riff raff that he signed.

What we don't need is "optimists" who call out the perceived "fandom" of anyone who refuses to think that this team that has been in a funk for years now will just change itself without actually making real changes. Sawxheads was full of those guys.

He went out and got guys who had good stuff but big warning signs. Obviously, DiceK had a few. Small frame, lots of mileage, a bit of a diva. And Lackey had elbow problems and diminishing velocity.

I didn't mind that Brennan because I have been a Sox fan since before Born to Run was a zygote. I know what he said is not true; he is entitled to his opinion about it. I don't really think he believes what he wrote anyway.

Not to guys like Sabathia, Haliday, Lee and the likes, the purchasers of those contracts knew what they were getting. Theo failed with Dice-K who was unproven in this country (Darvish may be the only Japanese pitcher to last more than a year or two, jury is still out) and insisted on the scrap heap mentality from there on in.

if Bard can control his s***' date=' he's an ace pitcher. 6-0 GO/FO. So far he's keeping it in the park.[/quote']

The guy throwing right now is not an ace pitcher, command or no. His power has been sapped with his move to the rotation and the fact that his K/9IP is slightly higher than Buchholz's right now points to the contrary
