Not where it counts, in the field. McDonald, without equivocation, is an awful baseball player because he can't hit, but he's perfectly mobile.

Boy talk about bad injury luck....every time he has turned around something has happened to him. If he offered me a ride in his car I am not sure I would take it.

He is an adequate backup player IMO. But not a starter. He would be platooning with Sweeney if Ells and Crawford were not hurt. And McDonald would be DFA'd

If he's not K'ing (34% of time vs RHP), he's grounding out.

 

Iglesias seems like such a simple fix. There's gotta be something that the Sox brass see that we don't. It's likely his hitting, but he's shown great strides and could definitely continue those strides on the fly.
