I've heard it's a great show but have never seen it. Are they on something like Season 4 so it would take me forever to get caught up?

I'm pretty sure it has completed seven seasons. I have been watching for a couple of seasons and have the first six season set (which I recently finished watching) . Catching up will be enjoyable if you decide to do it. It is a funny, funny show. Even if you don't want to catch up, it can be still be enjoyed.

That's good to know. But, once baseball season officially starts, I barely have/find time for the regular shows that I already watch. :)

Wow Paps.......has finally found a city where he fits right in.

What kills me about this is that I really cannot remember seeing Sox fans beat up on Paps for following the money. Everybody acknowledged that he was/is a great closer.....no question about it. That had nothing to do with the decision not to pay a closer a zillion dollars.

Worse than that, the Sox fans certainly did not have anything to do with the decision one way or the other. What did he expect.

In the first place, nobody thought the Sox were going to accommodate his pretty well known desire to set a mark for closer contracts. In the second place, what did Paps expect from the fan base....a raid on Fenway demanding he be signed for what he wanted? That would surely have done it. No wonder he does not think much of us.

I appreciate what Papelbon did for us and he did a lot. He is arguably the best closer we've ever had, but to say that Phillies fans are more baseball knowledgeable than Red Sox fans is a pile of crap and he ought to know that better than anyone. The Red Sox fans put up with a lot of heart rendering innings when he was on the mound and very rarely gave him any ration of s***, and, besides, how could he know that Phillie fans have it over us in the smarts department. He hasn't thrown a ball in Philly yet and the only appearances he's ever had there was when he toed the rubber for the Red Sox.

Five will get you ten that if he has a few close shaves and blows a few games along the way he will change his tune in a hurry. I heard once that Sox fans might get pissed off at a player but the next day everyone starts fresh. Philly fans have always had the reputation of hanging on to their anger and their spites for long periods. I thought the whole story was a farce.:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown

What did Papelbon say exactly that was so terrible?

Redsox nation (pink hat nation) is a joke and Redsox fans are hysterical. Just read some of the comments on boston.com about the Redsox or tune in to a sports radio show around here.

Most bitter of rivals' date=' but still, White Sox fans are the worst I've encountered unless you include football fans, then Jets fans are the worst.[/quote']

Jets fan are absolute pukes. I spent about five years going to every Pats home game. Bills fans are really, really cool and fun to party with. I do not ever feel comfortable making generalizations. However, when it comes to the subject of Jets fans, I suffer from a large sample size do to the many times that I have been exposed to their obnoxious behavior.

To a person, they just suck.

They can all go s*** in their hats.

Looks like a lot bigger park than the old field. Plenty of seats available last night. The old park used to be a pain to get decent seats. Especially Yankee games--busloads of Yankee fans from Lauderdale made it hard to get seats on game day.

Agree about the Jets. NY fans have become more arrogant in recent years, because NY has become the big media city and the TV networks showcase their teams. The Jets are a classless organization competing against a classy organization--the Giants ,owned by the Mara family. They use a lot of bluster and swagger to attract media attention. They'll probably try to get Peyton M. to come to NY to compete against his brother. I doubt he'll go for it.

I'd like to see the Globe get a bit more positive about the Sox' date=' now that Spring Training is around the corner. I don't know what Boyd using coke 30 years ago has got to do with anything. Ancient history.[/quote']

Oil Can Boyd....this reminded me of back in the day:

"I am The Can, and I am going to come right at you with my best s***, and if you can hit it, I want to see how far Bo Jackson can hit The Oil Can."

Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd, Boston Red Sox Pitcher, to Bo Jackson before Jackson hit his first pitch over the 71-foot high score board in straight away center field at Fenway Park. (The ball landed 515 feet from home plate).

:D

He was one cocky mofo!

Red Sox make first round of cuts

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Red Sox today optioned outfielder Che-Hsuan Lin and third baseman Will Middlebrooks to Triple-A Pawtucket and left-handed pitcher Drake Britton and second baseman Oscar Tejeda to Double-A Portland.

Those players reassigned to minor league camp were RHPs Tony Pena Jr., Chorye Spoone and Alex Wilson and outfielder Juan Carlos Linares.

I did want to see Middlebrooks, but that's what happens when you can't get there until after the 15th.

Thus ending the nonsense about a marginally talented OF who cant hit or do anything else besides catching fly balls making the team.

Thank god.

I liked watching Lin, but I am just glad we made some cuts so we can get some others more playing time since the start of the season is right around the corner.

He's on a short leash--if Youks breaks down. They could play Aviles at 3B and Iggy at SS, too. Maybe that's more likely. School's still out on whether Iggy sticks. I've read it could be between him and McDonald on the roster. Iggy needs to get back in the lineup and play himself onto the roster.

It is going to be McDonald on the roster before Iggy. With CC out, McDonald will be the 4th OF. I would say Iggy still has a chance to make the roster, but I don't think it will come down to a decision between him and McDonald. If anything, Iggy might make the team until Crawford comes back and then if Iggy is our starting SS, then something might happen with McDonald.

They really need this kid's defense at SS with Youks at 3B. They are probably aware of that.

I think the kid got hurt a little with that stupid stealing home play. I don't know what Valentine was trying to prove there. The kid was hitting the ball good.

I'd like to see McDonald make the cut. I like guys like him who try hard.

I agree with you. As much as I want Iggy to make the team as our starting SS, I don't know how realistic that is, especially if this injury is any sort of set back for him. I think we will be fine with Aviles at SS. He can play the position decent enough for us to get by and his bat is better than Iggy's. Whatever the team chooses to do will be fine with me. Either way, we will probably see Iggy in the majors at some point, especially if he improves his hiiting if he starts the year in AAA.

McDonald I am sure will make the cut to start the year because we will need the 4th OF with Crawford out. I like his work ethic. I just do not know what will happen with McDonald when Crawford comes back. Will we keep 5 OF's? If we don't we might try to trade him otherwise we will be forced to put him through waivers, which means another team will pick him up.
