The pitch to Wieters was just a lucky hit. Davis was a routine grounder just has eyes.

But s*** stop giving Davis s*** to hit. He sucks. Go with your best stuff.

Oh my God' date=' why are so many Sox pitchers in love with the straight change. It is the most dangerous pitch in baseball. It has to either be out of the strike zone low or low inner half or outer half in the strike zone. If it is low in the strike zone and in the middle of the plate all the guy has to do is keep the head of the bat in the hitting zone as long as possible and he will be rewarded with not just a single but often will get extra bases or even a home run. Watch how many guys just drag the head of the bat through the hitting zone on that pitch. We saw it in spades last night with Beckett.[/quote']

The straight change is one of the best pitches in baseball if executed correctly. That is one pitch where location is somewhat important, but mechanics are much more important. If you telegraph your change, it's a BP fastball. If you dont, and you're geared up for heat, it doesnt matter where it is. Bard telegraphed his, Beckett's arm motion also slowed. These guys are dead tired, and the mechanics come apart before anything else when the body is fatigued

Cool story bro. Can you hurry up and start chapter "SHUT THE f*** UP"? That's my favorite part.

I am wondering why you keep reading the same story, are you a little mentally challenged? Maybe a little traumatic brain injury from beating your head against the wall all September. You seem to ask that chapter be read multiple times, maybe it's just part of your syndrome

Salty is pretty good defensively' date=' and will get better.[/b']

The guy is big and physical. Switch hitter with power both ways.

He and Pedey have been the best hustlers on the team.

He has worn down late in the season, but he will get better.

Catching in Boston is tough--the pitchers don't hold runners on, and

there's Wakefield to contend with.

Really? I would say average and if you rush me average-

Salty is a terrible defensive catcher. Terrible. His throws are erratic, he's a sieve for anything not thrown into his mitt, and he doesnt appear to handle a staff all that well

I just happen to love that chapter because it requires no commentary from you. These last few days you've been a real dickhead. Knowing that we can possibly miss the playoffs you choose now to hang in gamethreads and f*** with us. It's the same routine everyday. You just don't get it. If anyone here is mental..it's you.

I would agree. The game I saw him catch was awful! Granted Wake was pitching but Salty could not keep the ball in front of him!

He's reading the same story cause you keep repeating the same s*** all the time. Your posts are pathetically predictable.

I'm lol'ing because even though I want the sox to lose' date=' if they win, so be it. The Yanks are already in the dance[/quote']

Yes, I got that much. It wasn't hard to figure out.

I agree that execution makes all the difference with the straight change but I think location is huge with that pitch because if it is low and over the middle of the plate, you don't have to time it as much. You could be fooled and still hit it. Just keep the barrel of the bat in the hitting zone as long as possible and doink.....off it goes.

The other problem with being in love with the pitch I think (and that is what I am really saying here) is that the hitters see too many of them and it becomes very difficult not to telegraph it. Hitters end up catching one low and in the middle of the plate and doink....off it goes. Beckett through them by the bushel barrel last night.

To your point Kenny Rogers threw straight change after straight change in that monster performance for the Tigers in 2006 but he never got it over the middle of the plate to anybody. He was alway low out of the strike zone or low inner or outer, never low in the strike zone, middle of the plate and nobody touched him that night.

If you telegraph it, you shouldnt throw it. Like I said, if executed correctly, it's a deadly pitch. Hellickson and Santana throw dirty changeups.
