He did pitch well in game 7 of the '08 ALCS, but got out dueled by Garza, who we just flat out could not hit.

He s*** the bed in game 3 of that ALCS, and although he did pitch well in game 7, he had given up the lead by the 5 th inning to a Rays team that was next to last in the league in hitting. Garza's performance was truly impressive, because the Sox wer #2 in the league in hitting.

The psyche of this team has been shattered. There is no chance that they can pull themselves out of this death spiral. They are no longer circling the drain. They are in the drain. They had no resiliency... none. Lester had 3 opportunities to stop the bleeding. He failed all 3 times. Bard has had a terrible month and s*** the bed a few times. Beckett had the opportunity to turn things around and he couldn't finish the job. Papelbon blew a critical game. No one came up big. . .no one. There was no resiliency.

I thought I had seen everything in 45 years, but I was wrong. I had never imagined that i would see this type of collapse. Thanks Theo and Tito for the World Championships, but no thanks in advance for this collapse. This is going to be a hard one to live down, especially living in NY.
