Lester went to the hill in three huge games and he came up small each time-- not a money ace. He's just not. He's a # 3.

He would be if we had a number two. But, we don't. <_>

Please' date=' let's not start making up phantom excuses for this guy.[/quote']

How do you know for sure there isn't something wrong? Perhaps he's just going through a bad stretch, but I also know these past few starts are not like Lester.

I've no doubt the Yanks would love nothing more than to bury us and end any playoff aspirations in this series. Glad the Sox are content with letting them do it.

Not making the playoffs is bad enough. To have the Yankees knock us off and I'll be heartbroken.

If he's injured, he should not be out there.

This is a bitch slapping right now. Wakefield and Lackey should provide a ton of fun tomorrow.

I'd say I'm a pretty optimistic person but I'm not liking Wake or Lackey at all for winning. I hope the offense is boiling hot. Regardless I'm watching my football. So if it does go bad I won't break my hands punching a wall watching them.

Agree, he shouldn't be out here if he's injured. Then again, considering the alternatives and how desperate we are for starting pitching, he may be holding something back.

Obviously the above could be totally false and he may just flat out suck these past few weeks, but I've been watching lester long enough to know this just ain't like him. Also look at his career numbers vs. Tampa Bay and the Yanks, he owns these teams.

Now if he loses to Baltimore, who I think he's 14 - 0 against, I'm predicting he has Tommy John surgery. B)

Garcia is smart. He's not going to hurt himself. He will get ahead in the count and then bait them out of the zone.
Just like he did to Crawford. He'll do that all day.

What else can happen to the Red Sox to make them play any better?

Its like they checked out.

Just forferit the next 5 games and call it a season. That would be much better then enbarrasing yourself.

...or it could be that he has never pitched in such critical must win games before.

You may be onto something. He did win a World Series clincher' date=' but we were up 3 games to 0.[/quote']Pitching up 3 games to none is not a pressure situation.
