It was time. Hendry had done good things for the Cubs, but thy hadn't performed up to standard in awhile, and that's a big market to be foundering the way it has.

Wonder what this means for the off-season trade market. Garza, Ramirez, Soriano, etc. have to be up for grabs you'd think.

I'm sure at least Ramirez and Soriano were available already. Soriano in particular was one of the worst contracts in baseball and completely hindered that team from doing well.

 

I think the Cubs are one of the more poorly run organizations in the game. They have a loyal fanbase, a tremendous city, and are in desperate need of a champioinship. In 2003 they were close, since then they have been nothing worthy of excitement. The players they should go after they don't, and they players they shouldn't go after, they do. Hopefully a new GM will get things straightened out...

 

I wonder which of Theo's proteges will be the next to go...

Other than Hoyer, have any other GMs been hired from the Red Sox?

Seems like it could be Andrew Friedman who gets hired, which would be good for both the Sox and Yankees to get him away from the Rays.
