In hindsight, was Wednesday the best time to give Pedroia a rest?

Granted, you can't assume that starting him would have spelled the difference between victory and defeat. Then again, with both his proficient offense and defense, you never know, even in the case of a game that ended in a three-run margin.

And over the next five days, the team as a whole is going to get two days off anyway. Granted, they aren't complete off-days given that they are crossing two time zones today, then flying from coast-to-coast on Monday, but it's not as though anybody is exerting himself the same way he would on the field.

The pitching matchup was Lester vs. Blackburn. Hindsight is great and all, but going into that game, it should have been won without Pedroia.

Cafardo says no. It is rare to see any of the Boston media second-guessing Tito.

The next day was a day off, and the Yankees are matching them win for win.

The Red Sox don't win when Pedey is not in the lineup. You can look it up.

No, YOU look it up. This team has 43 losses with Pedroia, and 1 without-- last night.

You rest your big guys when you have a ginormous lead on a playoff spot. Is it more beneficial to have home field and a tired/injured Pedroia or be the Wild Card with a healthy Pedroia. This is the one reason why I think the sox take the division. I think they are very even, even though the season series hasnt been so even. But Girardi has older core players who need rest periodically. And I hope Girardi gives it to them. If ARod or Swisher or Cano are not completely ready for October, we're hosed

Would of made more sense for him to rest Sunday instead. A scheduled day off the next day and playing against a weaker team. Doesn't matter anyway, his replacement went 2 for 3 and we still lost because of other reasons.
