Miller's final line isn't terrible is it?

THe 10 hits aren't great, but the 1 walk and 8 strikeouts is significant progress. I wish he was going deeper into the game, at his stage of developemt I'll take 5+

I expect more than a 5 inning pitcher from someone who's at the 6th major league year stage of their development.

Then you're blind to what's really going on with Miller. Sorry to put it so bluntly, but the guy is also in his sixth year of PROFESSIONAL development, which corresponds to a player in about their second or third big league season, and without a lot of the development a prospect on the standard trajectory picks up along the way.

You just can't treat Miller like he's had a normal career track. He hasn't been anywhere near that.

And let me guess, you're the one who sees things clearly by thinking his 1.88 WHIP is somehow a sign of improvement. The guy's 26, he's not a prospect anymore.

Before we just outright Miller, I'd like to see how his stuff plays out of the pen. He can get away with some of his mistakes if his velocity amps up, which is likely in short spurts.

I agree, and he'll clear waivers because of the clever clause we negotiated in his contract that would add another year on his current deal if another team claims him.

Dammit. Why can't Crawford be the guy we signed?!?

I think we'll see him next year. Let's just hope he can be okay enough for what's left of 2011 and play well for the next few years.
