I bought every episode of Monday Night Nitro......pretty awesome to have. Wrestling sucks now and has sucked for almost 10 years.

I was never in to Nitro, I was a huge RAW guy back in the day.

$90 dollars bought me every single episode from 1995-2000. Its too bad WCW went under, it was a damn good product for quite a while.

Lol, pro wrestling is like a reality show now, it's like pretend-serious business, there's no more good characters. Every guy used to be a character, it used to be funny, now it's just the same crap, some guy gets the title, holds it for a year and has a couple of rivalries, if he's good, he turns into a heel, if he's bad, he loses his title to someone and a month later he helps a good guy win the title and thus becomes good himself.

I used to watch it with my dad all the time, it was good into the 90s, my dad said that wrestling was always good until about 10 years ago. I was still a kid then, but even I thought wrestling got really boring. There's nothing funny anymore, it's serious business now.

Yup, it sucks now.

So much better in the mid-90's early 2000's (before 2004).

Unfortunately WCW was a one-trick pony.

The reason why Cena is the WWE Champ is so WWE can sell crap to "little Jimmy" as R-Truth put it.

The reason why Orton is World Heavyweight Champ is because he kisses Triple H's butt.

Have there been any new superstars pop up in the last 10 years? As someone who hasn't watched in years, the only new big name that I've heard of is John Cena... that's a long time to go without much new talent.

Haha, the late 90s of WCW was good stuff. Then it just completely collapsed.

One of the funniest parts ever was when Kevin Nash, Sixx, and a few other NWO guys did that fake Arn Anderson impression and in reality he had no idea they were going to do that. I heard he was beyond pissed about it. Hilarious clip though.

There's lots of new big stars, they're just extremely boring. I watch it once a blue moon and there's always some new guy they're trying to make a star out of, who by the next time I watch, is completely phased out. I think wrestling just died out when 90% of the guys who were cool in the 90s just decided to retire within 5 years of each other.

Randy Orton is supposed to be some big star, he's just some annoying cocky kid who has no character whatsoever. His move is the "RKO" which is the exact same thing as Diamond Dallas Paige's "Diamond Cutter" move. They're all terrible actors, just like the old wrestlers, but the thing is, the new wrestlers try to act. They all try to act, in the old days they didn't even hide the fact they were s***** actors, because they didn't try to put effort into acting.

Technically the first one to use it was Johnny Ace, hence the original name for the cutter, the Ace Crusher. DDP just made it more popular.

Fun fact: Johnny Ace's real name: John Laurinaitis. He's the brother of "Road Warrior Animal" Joe Laurinaitis and uncle of former Ohio State and current St. Louis Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis.

I used to be a diehard wrestling fan growing up however it is just painful to watch now...I was also a die hard WWF (Raw) fan back in the day and did not follow WCW quite as much...

I, too, have been frustrated with the WWE for about 5 years now but the CM Punk angle they have going now is piquing my interest once again.. he's pretty much THE MAN nowadays

All the good wrestlers are retired or dead. The interviews aren't even good anymore, they're always serious now. There's no good characters, and there's no face of the business IMO, at least not one like The Rock was in the 90s and Hulk Hogan was in the 80s. There's no more of those awesome heel characters who provide the best interviews, like Randy Savage (RIP Macho Man) and there's no more good guy vs. good guy rivalries, like Ultimate Warrior vs. Hulk Hogan. Overall everything just stinks. Though, I haven't watched hardly anything since about 2004 or so.

no good feuds anymore either

the days of Tommy Wildfire Rich vs Mad Dog Buzz Sawyer are long gone.

In all the wrestling I've seen over 30+ years, I wished I coulda been at the Omni in Atlanta for the culmination of their feud. The Last Battle of Atlanta, in the steel cage with a roof on it, circa 1982or 83. Hell in a Cell 20 years before its time. The end of one of the greatest feuds ever and the effective end of both their careers

Whats the angle' date=' J???[/quote']

It seems as though they're giving Punk the ball to run an angle about the real s*** going on backstage and politically.. I dig it.. it's appealing to IWC geeks like myself

the interview I posted was the start of it.. Punk's contract was coming up and he "left" WWE after beating Cena cleanly

it's been a good couple of months

I lost interest when the NEXUS stuff went on and on. I hated Punk then too. Now I LOVE him. I'm at the "I can't miss this stage again."

Rose, I think a big problem now is that people don't wanna let go of the Attitude Era.. there'll never be anything like it again as long as we're alive.. wrestling always has peaks and valleys.. 1992-1995 was MISERABLE and again 2004 until about now has been pretty damn stale.. my only hope is that VKM doesn't drop the ball with this and just let it BLOOM without shoving Cena down our throats all the f***ing time..

this one needs to BREATHE and if it does we may see ourselves embarking on another great run in wrestling... it still won't ever compare to 1995-2002 though.. that was the GOLDEN age and you had to be watching when it was happening to truly understand why

I watched that link to the CM vid, and all of the CM punk videos from then on to 8/22. Awesome, very good storyline, I like this a lot. You're right, they could make this into something seriously good, and I hope involves minimizing that no-talent Cena. Cena sucks, and Vince has really let the business go, because he tries to push people like Cena and Edge and The Miz on people.

The problem is Vince has no competition pushing him. TNA doesn't count. They're still doing their tapings in a TV studio at Universal Studios Orlando. With no competition, Vince reverts back to his default settings. Got someone of Pacific Island descent? Make him a savage tribesman (see the late Eddie "Umaga" Fatu). See that big man over there next to that cruiserweight? Let's do a "David versus Goliath" storyline that's been done to death.

Edge is pretty good, just not a mega star like the WWE tries to make him. He was better off as a intercontinental champ type, who's just under superstar status.

I will say though, that The Miz is the worst. Idk how they let that guy be the champ, he's horrible. Even Cena is better than him.

Posted
Edge was an amazing worker.. I thought he was held back for too long.. great on the mic, great as a face and a heel.. it's too bad his body couldn't let him continue but he was always out there putting his body on the line.. I also believe he was under rated

Eh, I thought his closest comparison, Benoit was much better. If you're only going by wrestling, which is the subject, not morals, Benoit was one of the last wrestlers I truly enjoyed watching. He didn't give a s*** about getting hurt, he used to do all sorts of risky moves, he got hurt a lot but he was also one of the most entertaining stars. I really thought they would make something more of him.

One word to describe the Canadian Crippler is INTENSE.. and if wrestling ability was to be the deciding factor in what makes a superstar than my top 5 are Benoit, HBK, Bret Hart, Dean Milenko, and Jericho

but we all know it takes a lot more than just being able to wrestle and unfortunately Benoit didn't do much of anything on the mic.. He'd have been a perfect heel with a Bobby the Brain type doing the talking

Posted

Dean was so underrated. Also, when they brought Jericho back, he looked so gay. They really needed to make him the rocker look that he used to have.

Benoit was just entertaining, that's why the crowds loved him so much, he was a huge attraction, so much that he didn't need mic skills bc of how intense his matches were.

I recently bought every single monday night raw episode from 1993-2000.

Love watching old wrestling.

I also have every episode of Nitro ever, and every ECW Pay Per view (the real ECW, not the WWE crap).
