Couple of things.

-Salty is hitting .400/.455/500 in his last 3 games. Maybe he's starting to figure it out. Rough game yesterday defensively obviously.

-Youkilis back in the line up tonight. He is 2/4 against Santana with 2 BB.

-Lester's pitch count seems to be getting high early. Regardless, he's got a 2.59 ERA right now. Last year, he had a 6.23 ERA in his first 4 starts. Had he started last season like he did this season, he would have ended the season with a 2.86 ERA. Could this be his Cy Young year?

-Gonzalez's numbers right now are pretty similar to those as of April 22, 2006. He had 1 HR, 11 RBI, and was hitting 306/.375/.444. This year, he has 1 HR, 9 RBI, and is hitting .267/.353/.400. Gonzo ended 2006 with 24 HR and 82 RBI with a line of .304/.362/.500. Still, I'd be shocked if his power didn't pick up soon, but as it is right now, I'm really anxious to see him break out.

- Last time DiceK threw a 1 hitter, he followed it with a 4.2 IP, 8 BB, 2 ER outing against the Royals. DiceK has never thrown at Angel Stadium. Lets hope for better results tonight.

- In the past 7 games, our starting pitching has combined for a 1.19 ERA. With an offense that isn't clicking, the games have been closer than they should be, but we're still coming up with wins.

- The Red Sox are 4/31 (.129) over the past 2 games with RISP. Abysmal.

- I'll end this on a good note. All I heard last week was how "You can't win the division in April, but you sure can lose it" and that since the Sox started out 2-10, they were going to have to "play .620 baseball to win 95 games". They were going to have to play at a 101 win pace for the remainder of the season to win 95 games. Well f*** them. Because we just won 6 of 7 and now guess what. We only have to play at a .608 pace to win 95 games. Thats a 98 win pace, and this offense hasn't even started to click.

So f*** all the naysayers.

One correction: Dice-K has pitched @ Angel Stadium before, it was Game 2 of the 2008 ALDS. Red Sox won 7-5, Dice-K went 5 innings, gave up 5 hits, 3 ER's, 3 BB's, and had 5K's.

He also threw 30 pitches more in that outing. I think between the low pitch count, and his current, more balanced between-start regiment, its a very different situation. That being said, no way in hell he does it again tonight.

s***. Good call. I forgot about that.

Good point. It's an entirely different situation. He threw 112 vs PHI last year, and he threw 89 vs TOR last night. 23 pitches an an extra inning or two, so that could be pretty substantial. Maybe by pulling him after the 7th, they saved some bullets for tonight.

Yeah I'd be surprised if he can follow up his last outing with a similar one today... just doesn't seem likely. At this point though, I'd be happy with 5.2 IP, 3 ER. That should give us more than enough room to win this game. Provided he keeps his walks down to a minimum and throws strikes, Dice should be okay.

Having Tek behind the plate will help... at least we won't be forced into watching Salty stand around playing with his dong after he drops an easy pitch while Abreu churns around the bases like a fat fairy to score a crucial run.

Pretty happy with the way things have been going as of late... the Sox are actually a game ahead in the win column of where I was hoping for them to be at this point... thought we'd split all three series between the Jays, A's, and Angels... now if we can win one more in Anaheim and play well to take the series in Baltimore next week we'll be fine.

It's too bad we probably can't pitch him tonight

Yeah not expecting him to be available at all tonight... he's been awesome the last three games... don't need to kill him this early in the season.

Hopefully it's a moot point and we're up 9-1 or something like it at the end

I think he argued at least 3 calls last night and they showed him barking from the dugout another 3-4 times, so Id put the over/under at 5 and ill take the over.

I don't know about you guys but I think Scoscia's rants are hilarious.

It's not like the umps ever actually listen to him anyhow

I agree it's funny to watch, but it does get old after a bit... never liked Scocsia... guy always struck me as being a giant douchebag and his arrogance and dugout behavior have only cemented that feeling
