The sox don't have the goods to make this trade...yet. They are missing a headliner prospect, which I think Ranaudo may become but isn't yet

iggy absolutely is, and Kalish would be a top 50 prospect if he was still considered a prospect

Iglesias is a headliner prospect in a package for Felix? Cmon now. Kalish might be, although he never appeared in the top 100 in BA either. Remember, Montero is considered a top 5 prospect in all of baseball. The sox dont have that kind of headliner

I don't think the Mariners would want Papelbon, but I do believe has still has value at the deadline. Remember how relief-starved the market was last year? He'll be good for a second-tier prospect from someone desperate--moreso if the Sox eat-- and that can be used as filler in a big deal.

I'm guessing your a Yankees fan? Ace pitchers that have a year or two left you are right on these days. But if I'm not too far off here didn't the Mariners just resign this guy to a multi year contract? If they were to trade him it will be for kings ransom! Pun intended. I know it was kind of weak however.

Definitely not Papelbon. Why trade 3 months of a $12mm closer? He's out.

 

If the Sox were to get Felix, it would take Ranaudo + Iglesias + Kalish + Lavarnway, or something like that. Something that would completely deplete our entire farm system. Then, we would have to extend Felix to an outrageous contract since he's got a no trade clause that he would have to waive to come to Boston (same for NYY).

 

I think they can afford to take a gamble when it comes to someone like Hernandez. He's only 24, and will anchor the rotation for the next half decade. The Red Sox also have four or five 1st round picks, which they can use to restock the farm system, and with the money they have, they could easily sign some top international FA's.

I really don't think getting Felix right now is realistic, we dealt a lot of our prospects for Adrian Gonzalez. Plus its only been 3 games and we were facing one of the best offenses in baseball in a hitters park. Id like to see more of the staff before saying we need Felix. I don't see any reason why the Mariners wouldn't demand a ton for Felix and rightfully so. He is arguably the best pitcher in baseball.

i dont see them trading him either .There really is not lock great prospect
