It's very early, but it seems like all the talk from Spring Training about A-Rod feeling healthy and locked in is legitimate. It's not just the solid contact, but he's controlling ABs the way he was before the hip injury.

wow Beniot coming in? why not save him in case you are winning late tomorrow? I just hope the Yankees take a lot of pitches this inning.

One more negative to touch on. Cashman complained today about how Feliciano was abused by the Mets. If you thought he was abused, why give him two guaranteed years? Brilliant Cash, brilliant.

Anyway, nice win. There are obviously some things they need to clean up, but over the first two games the Yankees are winning exactly how people expected them to.

During that statement he also said "It's a thin market when you're looking for lefties, and he's one of the better ones out there. But you don't typically go after a guy who's been used like that"

I guess Cashman thought his abilities outweighed the risk, especially with the addition of A-Gon and Crawford to Boston. Boone Logan isn't reliable to get the job done ether.

I realize there's a justification. There has to be. But not all justifications are valid, and this one isn't. Eight million dollars over two years is overpaying to begin with, especially for a guy who Cashman acknowledges is due for injury.

Game 2 reflections....

AJ actually looked very good. 6 baserunners and K's in 5 innings was solid. His fifth was annoying more than anything because of a few bleeders, but so be it. His stuff was dominant. Hope he can keep it up.

Arod looks like he did 3 yrs ago. His swing looks much more fluid.

Jeter changed his stride down to a Bagwell-esque stride, which will help him avoid rolling over, but may sap some pop.

Tex is looking gooooood. He was about 3 feet from having a third tater in two games.

And Russell Martin looks solid. Big homer, pest at the plate, and a solid first tier defensive catcher. The Yankee staff is gonna love him

More stupid pitch selection with two strikes. They really make a habit of this. Same exact thing happened the last time Miggy faced Phil Hughes.

A-Rod is absolutely raking' date=' but that was a great play by Raburn.[/quote']

Agreed. He should not be allowed to leave NYC in full health.

The wind is blowing straight out, everything hit in the air is carrying out. Kind of like the last two years...

Wow Hughes can't even finish AJax. No put away pitch as a starter.

He's got that cutter early on in the count. He's also throwing mostly fastballs... his changeup and and curveballs account for 5 of his 61 pitches thrown today.

Miggy scared him off from the curve ball at two strikes. And for good reason ... it's not sharp enough to get swings and misses.

The people that talk about Hughes improving on last year are just unrealistic. This isn't an overreaction to one game ... it's just because he has never shown a consistent ability to put hitters away once getting them to two strikes.
