Whether they were in or not, both players definitely were deserving. I'm sure people will complain, but these are not bad selections whatsoever.

Posey was the wrong choice, the playoffs have their own awards for a reason, and this is why. They should leave postseason out of it. Hayward was statistically better. You can credit Posey's padded stats to one month where he hit over .400, the rest of his months being what most would consider pretty mediocre-to-bad. You can factor in that Posey is a catcher all you want, but the ROY is not a value award.

I honestly think the NL vote could have gone either way. But whether you want to admit it or not, a catcher who can rake is far more valuable than a right fielder. By my count, Posey only had one bad month, so that argument doesn't work for me. And Posey has a gun behind the plate. Threw out 37% of baserunners who ran on him. Like I said, could have gone either way. But I would have voted for Posey as well.
