Clay Buchholz named BoSox Club Man of the Year...

•He was named Jimmy Fund "Co-Captain," along with teammate Tim Wakefield, for the 2010 season. In that role, he made visits to the clinic, recorded public service announcements and spoke to participants at various Jimmy Fund events.

•He was the spokesman for the Jimmy Fund Rally Against Cancer program and visited the top fund-raising school, company and college. He also met with patients who were taken on group trips to Fort Myers, Fla., and Baltimore.

•In August he actively participated in the Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon that raised more than $3 million.

•During spring training, he participated in the Children’s Hospital Celebrity Golf Classic in Fort Myers.

•Vuchholz has also supported the Red Sox Foundation and its Picnic in the Park event by donating a pitching lesson and an opportunity to play a video game with him.

•Throughout the season he met with children from New England group homes during their visits to Fenway.

he's come a long way from the kid that was arrested for stealing 29 laptops from a middle school in texas. he now has a wife, a kid and was just named the red sox most charitable player. pretty much every team in baseball passed on him at least once in the 2005 draft, in large part due to character issues. jim robinson, jason mcloud and theo epstein all interviewed him personally and decided he deserved a chance to redeem himself
