My explanation for why I think you should vote for me:

The hitting is very close, though divinity's might be slightly better, but I have better starters from 1-5, and pitching wins championships. I think my bullpen is better than his as well

Anyways, I think divinity has a slightly better lineup but I have a better rotation and pen, and pitching wins championships

NO NEED for Bench Ytrb could sweep bench and still not win nor tie.

How is Longoria better then A Rod?

Evan Longoria:

Last 3 years

HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS

2008 27 85 46 122 7 0 .272 .343 .531 .874

2009 33 113 72 140 9 0 .281 .364 .526 .889

2010 15 72 59 96 15 3 0 .286 .371 .486 .858

Alex Rodriguez :

Last 3 years Team

HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS

2008 35 103 65 117 18 3 .302 .392 .573 .965

2009 30 100 80 97 14 2 .286 .402 .532 .933

2010 21 97 45 76 4 3 .268 .338 .492 .829

Overall Alex beats Evan in everything.

More HR's, RBI's, SB's, higher AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS

They're about equal on defense.

In 2008 Longoria was just starting, he's improved year to year and now is playing better than A-Rod, who isn't what he was 2 years ago. And they're not near equal on defense, last year Longoria had the highest UZR of all position players and won a gold glove

But I'll change that to a push, I didn't know how much A-Rod was better in 2008

And bsox, how is Garza better than Danks?

Posted

I don't have the time to do a position by position analysis, as I'm on vacation in NH and have very limited computer access, but right now I'd have to go with Ytrb's team. (I'll do a position by position analysis when I get back next week if anyone is still interested)

In any event, the offense and bullpen are reasonably close, with Ytrb taking the bullpen and Divinity taking the offense. The difference is the rotation, where it seems like Divinity's Yankee bias led him to overdraft a lot of Yankee starters, which worked heavily towards his demise. Ytrb (in my opinion) has the best 1-5 rotation in the entire league, and sweeps Divinity's rotation 1-5, which would earn him my vote.

With that said, I think we should do a 3rd place match, just because a lot of these semifinal matchups are extremely close.

These are the ones I disagree with

Andrus has sucked this year, Ramirez is a 5 tool player

Wainwright is favorite for NL Cy Young, CC isn't really even in Cy Young running this year, and Wainwright has had much better numbers this year and last

Pettitte wasn't good the last two years, he's been good this year but Latos has been better, Latos wasn't good last year because it was his rookie season

Mike Adams has had the better ERA/WHIP numbers this year and last, and Franklin isn't suited for middle relief, he's a closer

Hong Chi Kuo's ERA is below 1, he's had the better ERA/WHIP this year, last, and 2008

Bailey has had the better ERA/WHIP this year and last

if andrus sucked why was he on the all star team?

Wainwright would certainly see a turn in numbers if he pitched in the AL East like Sabathia. not to mention CC was fantasic in the playoffs last year and the year before all while pitching on short rest.

Pettitte is the pitcher with the most post season wins in history. he still gets it done when it matters most.

Posted
I vote my team should win this matchup, my offense is considerably stronger while theres not a huge difference between the pitching.
Posted

One postseason is a rather small sample size and Pettitte is not the pitcher he used to be, his stats are due for a correction in that his BABIP has been ridiculously low (near .250) and his FIP as of late June(corrected ERA when BABIP is valued in) is 3.73

And is making the all star team a good measure of how good a player is? Yeah, Omar Infante is a hell of a lot better than Joey Votto and Carlos Gonzalez

Elvis Andrus is batting .273 with no homers, the only thing he's doing well is stealing bases

Posted

.273 isn't a pretty good average, and I put it as a push. Even if you consider CC and Wainwright even, Latos has been absolutely dominant, he's been the best pitcher in his entire division this year, the whole sneezing think was just an excuse for the team to limit his innings

And that doesn't explain how Franklin > Adams, K-Rod than Kuo, and Brian Wilson than Andrew Bailey. You have the better lineup, but I have the better rotation and bullpen, and pitching wins championships

Wilson is a push to Bailey in my opinon

in 2009 Bailey had 26 SV 1.84 ERA, Wilson had 38 SV 2.74 ERA

in 2010 Bailey has 20 SV 1.56 ERA, Wilson has 33 SV, 2.06 ERA

Overall you're pitching is slightly better and my offense is certainly better. Offense players are on the field everyday while specific pitchers have much less time on the field. Implying Offense isn't as important to pitching is false, otherwise people would just use there first 4 picks on Ace's. I don't expect you to see it my way since you want your own team to win. so we can agree to disagree

I am going to go with YRTB here, this is an extremely close match up, but I got with YRTB due to pitching advantage. I prefer Divinitys lineup but I think the difference in YRTBs pitching in my opinion would give him the win.
