I've liked Nava for awhile but I don't think incredible power is part of the package. I think of this guy as someone who could go long 15 times in a good year, hit .290 and get on base at a .350 clip. Good 4th OF or borderline starting RF with a switch-hitting contact bat and solid D at the corners.

What a way to open your big league career though. Wow.

I'll take Nava as a platoon guy. He'd play well in a David Murphy role. The switch-hitting is nice too, I've always had a soft spot for switch hitters.

Considering that Nava is a UDFA out of amateur ball, anything you get is pretty much pure gravy.

the sox just ran into the luck of the draw here. A couple control pitchers without solid stuff who rely on opposing team's impatience. These guys die vs the sox. Get a pitcher with good stuff, and the sox have a chance to be silenced

These guys are just taking the Phillies' starters out behind the shed and beating them with an ax handle. Figuratively speaking, of course.

As does every other team in the history of baseball

What I mean is that the sox are particularly good against the soft tossers who get by on control alone. I'd rather they see a guy who throws in the 90s without good control than a guy who sits in the 80s and has good control

The game's going well, but really the Phillies are a AA club right now. As far as impressiveness goes, it ranks right up there with the Yankees beating the Astros.

Whatever it takes to make you feel good, man.

They've roughed up Sabathia, Burnett, Greinke, Meche, Garza, Halladay, Shields, Scherzer, Kazmir, Santana, Morrow, and Hughes this season, all guys who fit your description. They've had some poor offensive games against Davies, Bannister, Marcum, etc.

Some of those said pitchers have had good games against them too, but your point sort of falls flat on its face. They hit, and fail, against anybody.

They're talking about how Youks is really favoring his arm on the basepaths. Castigs thinks the HBP was on an elbow.

Yeah, even Atchison didn't really do that poorly -- just managed to get all of his baserunners clumped together so it led to runs. But like I said earlier, the Phillies are awful right now. Fidel Castro could pitch 3 shutout innings against the current Phillies.

Fortunately they have an off day after tomorrow.

Hadn't thought of that. Good stuff.

I guess Paps will be available tomorrow, so maybe we can let Wakefield stop after 8 IP :).

Paps will pitch today and/or tomorrow since he hasn't pitched in a while.

Love when Papi beats the shift!

So Nava is good' date=' huh?[/quote']

So far.

Nothing like hitting a Grand Slam on the first pitch you see in the majors!
