Duh!

4 games back in the loss column and facing a team 21 games out is a prime opportunity to advance. The Sox need to sweep.

Tie ballgame!

Do you see the Rays and Yankees as 102+ win teams?

The reason I ask is, if the Sox win 2 of 3 in their remaining series, they will finish with 102 wins (104 left, that's 69 wins, 69 + 33 = 102).

I don't get this sense of urgency, ie "they HAVE to sweep", in early June. They've been winning series left and right for a while now, against good teams too. I'm content with that continuing.

suns, let me make it a bit more clear. The Guardians can't sweep anyone.

The Red Sox have already swept Anaheim and Tampa this year, both vastly superior teams to the Guardians, so on what grounds can you support the absolutely retarded notion the the Guardians will sweep the Red Sox?

Entertain me.

Apparently the goal is not to be holding the division lead or WC at the end of the season, the goal is to have it now.

I'm waiting for your explanation as to why you expect the Guardians to sweep the Sox.

f*** now, why the hell didn't they have it yesterday. Besides, if they make the playoffs and win a title, what f***ing good is it if they didn't go wire to wire? Slackers.

Yaz would have made sure they went wire to wire. He would've played all 162 games and hit a game-winning HR in every one of the Sox' 128 wins.

Because you have to face Fausto Carmona, David Huff, and Justin Masterson.

You should be glad you don't have to face Wild Thing.

I'l give ya Carmona, but Huff and Masterson absolutely suck ass.

suns, please think things through before you make these posts. I don't know if you're trying to be funny, or if you seriously believe this, but it annoys the s*** out of other posters.

Yeah, you should probably write them a letter, in which you send back any tickets you've bought, communicating your position. I'm sure it will go far.

Unacceptable? That conveys a right of refusal, so man up and don't accept it.

That 4-5 includes two series wins. The series loss was a sweep at the low point of the season. Move on.

ESPN is showing the Padres v. Phillies game tomorrow night. None of the games v. The Guardians will be nationally televised.

This team ISNT going to win 2 of 3 consistently against the top teams. Unfortunately, 2 of the top teams in baseball are IN our division and then the Jays look like a good team as well. We need to play much better than .666 ball against the bad teams. Anyways, we may very well have to win 100 games to make the playoffs this season.

If you go to ESPN.com and pull up MLB and then Schedule you can check it out for yourself if you don't believe me.

A sensible post.

Although I doubt the Sox will win 100 games. For that matter, I'm not so sure NY or Tampa will either.

They don't make them like Yaz anymore.

The Sox have a much better W% against .500+ teams than sub-500 teams. That is an aberration. However, your premise is incorrect due to the following issue: The need is not to play better than .666 ball against bad teams. But to win more games than the teams who oppose them in the division and WC. Whether most of those wins come against sub .500 or .500 + teams is inconsequential.

Not directed at you, but the whine-fest because they lost one game to the O's needs to stop. It's hard to sweep a three-game series, no matter the opponent. What they need to do is win series, regardless of opponent W%, which was ORS' point in the first place, since winning series is what they have been the last few weeks, and it's reflecting in the standings.
