The reason I ask is, if the Sox win 2 of 3 in their remaining series, they will finish with 102 wins (104 left, that's 69 wins, 69 + 33 = 102).

 

I don't get this sense of urgency, ie "they HAVE to sweep", in early June. They've been winning series left and right for a while now, against good teams too. I'm content with that continuing.

The Sox have a much better W% against .500+ teams than sub-500 teams. That is an aberration. However, your premise is incorrect due to the following issue: The need is not to play better than .666 ball against bad teams. But to win more games than the teams who oppose them in the division and WC. Whether most of those wins come against sub .500 or .500 + teams is inconsequential.

What they need to do is win series, regardless of opponent W%, which was ORS' point in the first place, since winning series is what they have been the last few weeks, and it's reflecting in the standings.
