Here's My Take...

The Rays are coming off a sloppy let down series in Houston and haven't been dominate at home this season. Boston appears to be righting the ship and playing very well. This could prove to be an extremely interesting series. It's my opinion that the Rays have their work cut out for them with Boston at home. It will be a good test... If they prevail, maybe they are all that and a bag of chips. Either way, I'm looking forward to the series and hope we see some exciting games!

I would like to see the REDSOX at least win the series this week.

I see the Rays as the best team in baseball for the 1st quarter of the season. I also see them playing well over their pythagorean record would indicate with a pretty ordinary 102 OPS+..both the Sox and Yankees offenses are better in that regard. The pitching has been very good but I do not believe Tampa's pitchers will be able to sustain the level of dominance. It is always hard to predict a small sample like a 3 game series but I would be very surprised, shocked even, if the Sox did not win this series. The Rays took 4 games in Fenway(2 of which the Sox should have won)... all luck factors have been exhausted by the Rays.. It is time for the law of averages to start equaling out. I fully expect the Sox to win 2 of the 3 games in Tampa.

My take? We need to sweep. We are 8.5 games back, we need to make up serious ground. Losing the series/getting swept could be considered a disaster.

Losing any game that is started by Buchholz/Lester will hurt the team. But The Sox are only 2.5 back on the WC, so sweeping isn't mandatory.
