The issue is Lowell. But he's not a major issue. I think that you're overblowing a non-issue. The rotation is working' date=' everyone's hitting, and the odd-man out is Lowell.[/quote']The ral problem is not Lowell, but the fact that VMart is forced to catch everyday. He's a bad catcher and his offense suffers if he catches more than 100 games. The Guardians learned this about him throughout the years. His value to the team is not maximized by catching him everyday.

A very small fraction of a fanbase can go to games regularly' date=' be it due to finances, schedule conflicts, or geographical location. His description of the overall fanbase, the one I run into, at Sox bars, at road games, on message boards, is accurate.[/quote']

Even in the Dominican Republic people bitch about Drew. Wow.

Which is why we have Varitek. If Lowell dissapears, then Varitek catches against most lefties while V-Mart DHs against them, and problem solved.

I hear ya. Overall, I'm happy with Fios.

Interesting thing to note: Wakefield has allowed exactly zero homers tonight.

A "Fearless prediction" is about to fail miserably. :harhar:

So far our 6th starter has been much MUCH better than Beckett so far this season.

Beckett and arguably Lackey. (Stretching a bit, maybe?)

Because Ortiz no longer hits most lefties for power. No logjam, platoon issues.

V-mart is coming around' date=' Papi has come around, Youk is raking, Drew is Drew, and Jacoby is back. Now we just need Beckett and Lackey to stop sucking and we are golden.[/quote']

Don't forget Pedroia. He hasn't been himself at the plate yet.

Pitchers better start shaking in their boots. When the little guy starts spraying liners, there's going to be hell to pay.

Seconded. Drew is even "hated" by many of the Sox fans I know. The hatred isn't even based on rationality... because he "isn't worth his contract." As if it's his fault that our FO overpaid for him. I agree with the description too.

Ortiz this season against lefties (Even in his current hot streak):

.612 OPS.

Varitek this season against lefties:

1.352 OPS.

Since last season, Varitek has been a much better performer against LHP than Ortiz. Thank God Francona's the manager, 'cause he goes by the numbers.

I wonder who the lefty pitchers would rather see digging into the box with a couple of runners on base.

Not about who pitchers would rather face, but who gets it done. Varitek's been getting it done against lefties, while Ortiz hasn't. That's the truth.
