Not the point. You're the one who knows more about defensive performances than the FO. I sure don't' date=' so that's why i suggested you offer your services, since you're so good at it and all that.[/quote']

I'm no more informed than the average fan who watches the games. But I know who plays short better than they do. Don't you think that's odd?

What is odd is that you:

A) Completely spin the subject around. Scutaro was brought in knowing he had average-to-slightly above average D at SS but had a much more steady bat than Gonzales (as in, could actually get on base).

B ) Say you know more about defensive performance than the FO, yet think Lowell, at this stage of his career, is a better defender than Beltre. You said you could evaluate defensive talent better than the FO, i sure as hell don't, and i'm an average fan who watches the games (whether you like it or not, i watch as many games as you do), therefore you are much more informed than the average fan, and your talents would be better utilized spearheading the scouting department of a team's FO.

Just make the contacts and get a job in MLB. I hate to see talent wasted.

Renteria, Lugo, Green, Scutaro... Bill Hall ... lol

I rest my case.

Wait, what about the other part of the roster that doesn't suck? Oh right.....all of those players were drafted/developed and/or signed thanks to your input and your expertise.

I rest mine.

By the way, Green was an injury replacement and Hall's a bench player. Try again.

To be fair, Renteria and Lugo were both supposed to be average fielders with above average offense and some speed. The FO didn't own a crystal ball to tell them they would struggle in Boston. Scutaro is an average fielder who changed his mechanics to become a decent hitter with far better on base skills than Gonzalez. Gonzalez was a great fielder but an absolute black hole offensively. They decided to go with a cheaper and better offensive SS in Scutaro, fine move by me. Gonzalez isn't going to be keep hitting homers all season and his OB% still sucks right now.

As for Green and Hall, they are backups, and Lowrie ran into a mess of injuries that set him back/possibly ruined him. Yes, we all wish we could have some consistency at SS, but the FO hasn't done a terrible job. If only we hadn't traded our future HOF SS for Beckett... But again, that's crystal ball material...

And in the end, no Beckett equals no 2007 WS title, so.......but hey, at least i'm certain i can't evaluate talent since i'm just an average fan, so.....
