Why DFA?

Pull him into the office and explain why he has a sore wrist and sent him to Pawtucket to "rehab" on the DL. If he gets his s*** together, great. If not, eat it.

I've been thinking some variation of this for a while. Great minds and all that.

ok or not:harhar:. (or should I post "great" or "whatever"?)

anyway I sort of agree with the poster that said they should never boo Ortiz - but at the same time, he's killing us....

I'm not watching the game because... well, sometimes a guy has social obligations... but how is Lester looking? I see the stats, but the last time he pitched, he didn't look like his prime, and still pitched an extremely good game.

What incentive does Ortiz have to accept that?

I'm only speaking as a human being here, but his pay doesn't get cut, he stops embarrassing himself before a national audience, and his team will certainly be better off for it. That would make sense to me, but then I'm not a professional baseball player.

His pay doesn't get cut if they DFA him, he may think being demoted to the minors is more embarrassing, and he may not really give two shits about the success and failure of the team (his sullen attitude during this suggests he's not above placing himself over the team in terms of priorities). Just saying.

All true....

So I guess someone is going to have to actually break his wrist.

Well he does make $74, 000. a game weather he plays or not. So you have a point.

However, he is "prideful", and may just accept an opportunity to reestablish himself as a contributor and have an opportunity to finish his career in Boston in a positive light.

Or maybe he has no integrity and will enjoy the opportunity to go home and count his money and chickens.

Either way, my heart pumps piss for him.

What's our record with games Ortiz has played vs. those where he doesn't?

He's killed a couple of drives tonight.

6-11 with, 6-3 without.

Those were the quarterback's fault.

Just so you know, this country is not a giant farm. Ortiz is from the nation's capital, he lives in a huge penthouse in the Metropolitan area and drives a Hummer. He doesn't have a backyard full of chickens. Just sayin'.

I think he meant the chickens going into the casserole.

Who's to say he doesn't have chickens in his penthouse? Have YOU been there? I thought not!

He lives behind the school my mother works in. There are no chickens there. He has a huge bulldog though.

I would like to think that he does give a s*** about the team, the town, and the other players. But even if he doesn't, he DOES want to play 2-3 more years. Going to AAA and taking care of those kinks is the only way that will happen, and the better he does, the better his next contract.

Perhaps he has a secret underground chicken farm.

If he had an underground farm, he'd probably breed cows instead of chickens.

I agree with this idea. Maybe the chickens pecked his hands too hard and now he can't hit baseballs. :dunno:

Incorrect.

The cows bit him.

Someone mentioned that Ortiz has a great deal of pride, and because of that, he might accept a minor league assignment in order to possibly regain a semblance of his old form. I agree that he probably has a lot of pride, but I actually think all that pride would prevent him from accepting a minor league assignment. Those feelings can work both ways. For example, at the beginning of 2005 Jason Giambi refused to accept a minor league assignment, probably because he felt it was beneath him. I think there is a good chance Ortiz feels the same way.

Obviously this is nothing but speculation, as I don't know what his mindset is. With that being said, I think the above is plausible, and probably likely.

Papi brand salsa goes better with chicken than steak.

That's because Papi doesn't like chicken and he pities the fools who do.
