Prince Fielder' date=' Adrian Gonzalez and Albert Pujols will be free agents after 2011 season. Im betting they will have one of them on the 2012 roster, Pujols less likely of the three[/quote']

Prince is 5'11" and 270 pounds.

Not exactly the peferred body type of this front office.

The Brewers are likely to shop Fielder around a bit this summer, especially if they're out of the race, which I suspect they will be. Having a year and a half still on his contract makes him that much more valuable and Milwaukee has to know that if they're going to trade him, they have to get a solid haul back in return.

Personally, I'd rather we go after Adam Dunn, who's a cheaper alternative and could solve our issues short term, but if the price was right on Fielder, you bet your bippy I'd pull the trigger on that deal. Having him in our lineup as DH would be huge IMO.

A better fielder of course.

But I was specifically commenting on their hitting. Howard is a much better hitter than Adrian Gonzalez.

You're completely discounting two important factors.

1) Career trends.

2) Park factors.

As it stands right now, Adrian Gonzales is a better hitter than Howard. He strikes out less, gets on base more and boasts similar power, which brings us to point number two:

Adrian Gonzales OPS+ 2007-2009: 143.

Ryan Howard OPS+ 2007-2009: 136.

When taking into account complete skillset and park factors, it seems clear that Gonzales is a superior all-around hitter than Howard, even though you can argue that Howard's a better "Power hitter".

And please look at both lineups before you even bring up the RBI argument.

Adam Dunn could be available this summer' date=' the Nats are improving but they arent contenders this season. Plus he's a free agent at season's end. But thats only if Sox release Ortiz[/quote']

He's the best option IMO.

I expect the Nats to try to extend Dunn. He's part of the improving team, is not particularly old, can play a couple of positions, and the Nats may have money to spend as they continue to improve their on-field product. I don't know if they see him as part of their long-term core but I expect them to at least see him as a very competent hole-filler until they get guys who can fill in at LF and 1B better than Dunn could do either.

I don't disagree with you, but when a player is costing 1/5th of their salary, and someone offers something to them that has potential and is much cheaper, ie prospects, it may be hard for them to turn down the deal.

So what do you offer for a Dunn? Bowden and Rizzo?

The Nats need pitching of all shapes and sizes, OF help, and a middle IF with potential.

Reddick/Lowrie/Bowden seems to fit the bill pretty well, doesn't it? Players that the Sox probably won't even miss, except maybe Reddick, and still fit the needs of Nationals who are looking for mlb ready players.

Rather give up Kalish than Reddick. The Nats' love of Nyjer Morgan suggests they'd likely be amenable to the switch.

Lowrie cant stay healthy , Bowden sucks

they would never make that deal

He costs a ton and they lose him at the end of the season. Sure, the deal needs tweaking, but those guys are worth more than a draft pick.
