I'm disappointed that the U.S. lost but I am very satisfied that they came out of nowhere to grab a silver.

Hats off to team Canada.

More than that, the Russians really came up short in the medal count with only 3 gold and 15 total.

As someone who has just a little bit of first hand knowledge of Russian culture, I can assure you that this is a national disgrace for Russia. People will disappear for this.

I'm just so happy right now.

What was your take on the game? I thought Canada played great despite USA coming up big with the late pressure and goal. Canada looked like they were going for broke in the OT where USA seemed a tick tentative.

I still think we could have won had we shaken up your goaltender a bit, he wasn't exactly steady. But rather than take a bunch of high post shots that we had, and have the off wing break in to the far post looking for scraps, we instead elected to try and set up the perfect play which really didn't materialize. The only way USA was winning was to totally out shoot Canada, pressure the goalie, and get him off his game.

I thought it was one of the most highly competitive games I've ever seen and there was a reason I was nervous to face the Americans again in the finals. I liked the game Canada played. They weren't able to impose their will on the Americans the way they did to the Russians but they maintained pressure throughout the game. I was disappointed to see them kinda fall back in the third period, constantly content to just chip the puck out of the zone so I felt the tying goal was inevitable.

I knew going into the Olympics that Team USA was in the mix of 6-7 teams that could've won it all despite Brian Burke and Ron Wilson constantly trying to play the underdog card. When you have the best goaltender in the world right now on your team, you aren't an underdog (see the Czech Republic in 1998). Honestly, if Canada and USA played 10 games, I think each side would win 5.

Same thing USA did in period III of the first matchup, except they went into even more of a defensive mode. I hate that strategy, it takes away the players' rhythm, dstroys the team's flow, and generally is just asking for trouble.

Congrats to Team Canada, and our bros north of the border. Enjoy, fellas.

Congrats to you guys as well. It's definitely a case of winning silver rather than losing gold and with such a great young core (Kessel, Parise, Kane, the Johnsons, Stastny, Miller, etc.), you guys have as good a shot as anyone at winning in four years.

I have a friend who lives in Pittsburgh. Here is what he said on Facebook:

Crosby, you son of a ... now get your ass back on the right side of the border.

I thought the Canadians did a great job hosting. The piece with the torches at the beginning of tonight's ceremonies was a nice touch.

It's like they are perpetuating every Canadian stereotype imaginable. And it's sort of funny.

Evidently, so did the people. Bonnie Ford referred to the drinking that's gone on during the Games as "like the Dante's Inferno version of tailgating".

Wish I were there!

Although it's funny that the stereotype is that we live in a desolate land of snow and ice yet everyone was complaining that there was no snow in Vancouver with temperatures in the 50s.

I thought this had possibilities as an interwebz tag, so I created one:

Congrats to the Canadian men on the Gold! Did it have to be Sidney Crosby that scored the winning goal? <_>

Did you have a good time at the gin mill?

Stupid question, right? It's always better when you're around.

Yes I did! The whole place went nuts when the US tied it with 25 seconds to go.

Mine's all boy, we named him "Tux."

For as long as we've lived here we've had a steady delivery of cats on our doorstep within a year of losing the last one. Mama jost drops them off in the yard, and it's up to us to lure them into the house.

Last year we had THREE kittens show up all at the same time, Tux was one of them.

Ratings for the game in Canada are in. There was an average of 16.6 million viewers, almost 50% of the country and at one point, 26 million people were watching, 80% of the country.

Today hasn't been that bad. Every Canadian I know is talking s*** about the game, but thank god I only know 2 of them. Plus, there's a lot of material to defend oneself with anyway...

I just wish it wasn't Crosby that did it. I think if Richards had scored the goal I'd be happier.
